Hi, I am planning to travel to Stockholm sometime soon, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me something about a jazz club called Fasching in the Old Town. For example, what kind of a place is it, what kinds of people go there, what kind of music do they play (well, jazz obviously, but what kind, is it live....)? Or anything else you can tell to give me an idea about the place would be much appreciated. :)
Thanks!
Have not been there specifically, but here is a translated page that should give you a good idea. Have fun....d:o|)

Sorry the translation makes for a huge link......
Thanks for the link! (Och tack för översättning, men jag kan faktisk tala svenska... :)) I wrote in English as I don't know if you can use other languages in this forum. Anyway, I will check out their website.
And of course, if someone's been there, any info that isn't available on the website is most welcome, too! :)
It's not in the Old Town but a few blocks away from the Central station.
Yes there is live music frequently and it is a place with a lot of history so you see all kinds of people into jazz here.
Sjalen, ah, I google mapped the address and so it is. Someone told me or I read somewhere that it is Gamla Stan. Good to know it isn't though - makes it easier to find it! :)

Stockholm is a big city, you can find just about anything here, the system works well, there are lots of information available on-line so make your research beforehand. Also, while in Stockholm, drop in to the information centre and you can collect a lot of info about Stockholm, places to see, programs, actuality, shows, music, theatre, sports etc.
There is no way to get bored in this lovely city, but you can sure get peace and relax moments here. -

The year is slipping
Out of sight
Frozen waters
Icy roads
Swapped for the winter.
O' Stockholm
Pale and blue
How much warmth
I feel for you.

There are quite a few Swedish artists that have made the charts worldwide: Abba obviously and Ace of Base to name a few.
Britney Spears, N'sync, J. LO, and Celine Dion actually all had their Number One hits recorded in Sweden. And a lot of thir songs were actually written by Swedish songwriters, Swedish producers and used Swedish backing. In 2001, more songs by Swedish songwriters were on the charts in the UK than any other country. (I just researched all of this info.)
You don't see a lot of Swedish artists are making the charts in North America, but when you visit Sweden you may discover some of their music. One funny example is Markoolio.. a Swedish rapper mostly popular with school-aged children. Other Swedish artists who are popular there right now include Lena Philipsson, A*Teens, and Charlotte Nilsson, Eva Dahlgren, Thomas Ledin, Kent and Freda.
Gunnar Asplund did not believe in "absolute" minimalism in design. The interior of the City Library has some beautiful details, and if you are interested in architecture, you really need to pay attention to some of the ways in which Asplund designed this building to be a real "people's palace." But even on the exterior is this purely decorative and non-functional frieze, which incorporates a kind of hieroglyphic serving no purpose other than amusement.
Over the 'bohemian' quarter in southern Stockholm, the fireworks of drunken Swedish partygoers lit the midnight sky.
It's a brand new year, 2006, and I am celebrating in the Scandinavian nation.
One crackling sound after another, throngs of midnight partyers' plant fireworks into a pile of snow, lighting the end, and waiting for the white or red colors to fill the sky.
Hasse and I held hands and admired each one from a distance.
