Not recommended!

This hotel is located at a bad area of town and is far from the city. The staff is very friendly and nice but the cleaning personnel is horrible and this hotel is one of the dirtiest I have ever stayed. 3rd world countries had cleaner rooms and facilities! It is very expensive for what it offers certainly worst deal in town. Breakfast contained a variety and this was good. This hotel is strictly for students and people who have no demands from their staying, including a clean room. Much better to stay at Radisson blue or Sheraton (which I checked).

Unique Quality: The gym was closed. The coffee shop was nice.

Modern Luxury

This modern, art-filled hotel was probably one of the best hotels that I've ever stayed in (and I used to work for a very large international hotel chain...). All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unique Quality: Rooms are really clean, modern and comfortable - standouts have to be the fantastic shower and bathroom, and the bed which feels like you are floating on a cloud. Breakfast is amazing - there really is something for everyone. It was awful coming home and not having smoked salmon for breakfast every day.... Although we didn't have chance to use the facility (and forgot our costumes), the jacuzzi and steam room (although very small for the size of the hotel) had a great view across the island.

More about Clarion Hotel Stockholm

Huge room, great breakfast, very friendly staff

by DrPwk about Clarion Hotel Stockholm

We stayed in a deluxe double for 2 nights.

Would definitely recommend.

Good points:

* HUGE room and lovely bathroom with shower and a bath
* Great modern decor
* Huge bed with 2 duvets - no fighting over the duvet :)
* Great breakfast selection
* Absolutely lovely staff who were very friendly and helpful with any questions
* Right by Skanstull T-Bana metro, only a 5 minute ride from the Central rail station/Gamla Stan etc.
* Sodermalm is a lovely area with loads of reasonably priced restaurants (for stockholm!) - especially good for veggies with Chutney and Hermanns nearby!

Negative Points:
* A little bit out of the action if you like everything on your doorstep
* Breakfast is completely self service so you have to get all drinks etc yourself which can be a bit of a pain as there are no trays and you are up and down like a yo-yo to get coffees, tea, juice etc as well as food (this does seem to be common practise in Stockholm though)
* No plunge pool or hot tub as shown on their website, nor has their literature in the rooms been updated. There is now only a sauna and where the pictures show the pool to be this now just has 2 running machines placed there. This was not explained to us by anyone and a number of people wondered up looking very confused. We were pretty disappointed about this as the view is amazing up there and our tired aching feet wanted to use the hot tub!

Overall we had a great time here so we would definitely recommend it. The staff are fantastic and made all the difference to our stay. * HUGE room and lovely bathroom with shower and a bath

Ultra Cool!

I stayed at the Clarion Stockholm at start of Feb 2006. Overall, the hotel was superb. We flew with Ryanair and arrived amidst gorgeous glittery snow! The trek from the airport is a bit long but the arrival at the hotel soothed our weary bones! We were in a group of 10 - and were all placed in rooms on the same floor. Amazing entrance and on the Friday night some cool bar grooves coming from the upstairs bar area. Interesting art everywhere and super clean! Our room was small but perfectly formed, really comfy beds and lovely powerful shower. The spa is excellent - great views from the plunge pool to the city at night! Breakfast was amazing - the best selection I have ever seen - and the restaurant was so bright and sunny you couldn't help but smile for the rest of the day. The reception staff were great, booked a group of 10 into a stunning restaurant nearby on a Saturday night with 2 hours notice!! About Stockholm - it is expensive so be warned - we underestimated drink prices. The museums are closed on Mondays - we found out the hard way! Walk from hotel to Gamla Stam is it gives you a lovely view of the city and the palace.
Would reccommend this to anyone and will go back if ever in need of more Stockholm cool!

What a cool hotel

Upon entering this hotel, you can tell you are in for a fun stay. The uniquely designed entry sets the tone for the rest of hotel. When we got to our rooms we were not disappointed. The rooms have great light and are extremely comfortable. The staff was warm and welcoming. Best of all, the breakfast buffet was out of this world. There were multiple food stations with bountiful amounts of whatever you could want. We would definitely stay here again! US citizens, this is not your typical American Clarion.

Excellent Hotel & Location

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Clarion over the Thanksgiving holiday. The room we had was excellent (very large)and the service other than the forgotten wakeup call was excellent. The staff was very helpful in giving directions and the subway station is directly across the street. I booked this hotel through Expedia and got one night free. Their free breakfast is enough to keep a lumberjack going.

Top Marks!

We've just spent 5 excellent days over Xmas at The Clarion. We chose the hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations and were not disappointed. The hotel is funky but comfortable which is important after long, cold, snow-filled days wandering around beautiful Stockholm. We booked a Deluxe room for a small extra charge and were very pleased - we had loads of space and an entire wall of glass which gave us an abundance of natural light - quite a treat in a country where the sun rises at 9am and sets again by 3pm! The staff were fantastic - especially as we'd arrived on Xmas Eve without any plans for the big, traditional Swedish Xmas dinner. Reception staff made massive efforts to find us a dinner booking after we gave them just 90 minutes notice. We'd definitely stay at The Clarion again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cool hotel with very reasonable prices.

Good choice

by TripAdvisor Member ab69

It is a modern hotel, in a quite good location in the South part of Stockholm. It is not really central, but quite close to the Old Town an to the Central Station, even if it is better to take the tube (very good!) to go there.
The hotel has a very nice lobby with wonderful glass lifts and the rooms are nice. They are not "wonderful" but very clean and with a good bathroom. Also the spa is very confortable and the breakfast is one of the best.
If you book this hotel at a good price (EUR 100-150) it should be a very good choice.
