Travelling from Stockholm to Prague
by Voluntaries
Hello,
I need to travel from Stockholm to Prague on Saturday 20th February - I need to leave Stockholm in the afternoon and be in Prague by midnight and can't work out a cheap way to do it as any flights leaving at the right time seem to be massively expensive. Don't mind train or bus - the best thing I have come up with is taking a train to Malmo but then there isn't a flight from Malmo to Prague until the next morning which is too late as I have an audition in Prague at 9am!
Can anyone help a broke dancer?
Thank you!
Louise

Well, it is a miracle to get cheap tickets so late.
I am afraid there is no chance to get to Prague till midnight, especially with limitation of afternoon departure. Even if you would fly to Berlin or Vienna which are freequented airports, you still need 5 hours by bus/train to reach Prague. And there are no night trains from either of them. Other closer airports have too few flights.
Quite cheap option would be to take SAS at 16:50 to Frankfurt, then take night bus to Prague - arrives 4:45. But you will not be able sleep well, so audition would be real hell. http://zluty.cz/online/Booking

The best offer I can come up with is Ryanair - http://www.ryanair.com/(remember to read all the small print) from Skavsta dep. 07:45 arr. Prague 09:45 - SEK 174.
Eurolines have a bus connection from Stockholm to Prague. The journey take 24 hours with 2 changes - SEK 1109. No departures on 20th February.

Other possibility is to fly from Stockholm S. Skavsta airport with Ryanair to Berlin really cheap, then again night bus to Prague http://www.orangeways.com/
Travel Tips for Stockholm
Swimming on a warm summer evening
by Loulou18
The fact that I can go walking wherever and whenever I want.
According to my different moods I can coose another part of town that is only 5 minutes away from the previous one but totally different. Eating icecream, kötbullar, the university campus, the warm summer nights, the forests and rocky beaches, the different numer of islands, style, the people...
Neighbourhoods: Norrmalm
by Maline
Norrmalm can be seen as the center of modern Stockholm. There are a lot of businesses here and expensive shops, and also clubs, bars and restaurants. The prices may be a little higher here than in other parts.
This is also the case with Östermalm. Östermalm, though, is more a neighborhood of broader streets and elegant residences. It is directly to the east of Norrmalm.
Great lookout points
by tini58de
We are always on the lookout for outlooks - and here is our list for Stockholm:
1) Katharinahissen - a lift on the island of Södermalm that gives you a fantastic view of Gamla Stan
2) the tower of the Stockholm Cathedral right in the Gamla Stan
3) the TV tower (kaknästornet) with a height of 153 m should give you great views of all of Stockholm and its surroundings. We did not try this one, but we were told that it was well worthwhile!
4) the tower of the City Hall (stadhuset)

The parliament consist of 349 members who are elected for a period of 3 years.
Wedding Etiquette
by dmirebella
Apparently this is a Swedish custom during wedding receptions where should either the bride or groom leave the table (for a quick toilet break for example) - guest will be able to take "advantage" of the situation to kiss the bride or groom till the missing party arrives.
So say the groom leaves the table - the men would then all rush to kiss the bride - and vise versa.
Good fun this tradition
