Swedish lesson

by JoannaArt

I started to learn swedish some months ago just for myself. I live in Warszawa, Poland. I was thinking about swedish course for foreignes in the summer - what do you think? Have you heart about good one in Stockholm?

I don't know of any courses for foreigners who don't live here and have the Swedish social security # but you could google for SFI (svenska för invandrare/Swedish for immigrants) or check the language programs as Stockholms universitet (www.su.se) or courses at Folkuniversitetet, Medborgarskolan or Studiefrämjandet.

I will check it. Ive just started to learn in September and understand a lot of words and I love swedish accent haha but prenociation is so so difficult for me... that is way I thought about any course... but in case that Wizz Air is so cheap ( my return ticket cost less than 400 kronor) I want to check first option - just spend some days in Stockholm and integrate with any people...so let me see - not good that people in Sweden are so good in English haha...and the most difficult for me is that Im not living there and cannot spend in Stockholm more then 1 - 2 weeks cause Im not a student now ...

In that case, I would recommend you contacted the schools and asked for either intensive courses that you can do for 1-2 weeks or something similar, or if you could just pay for a certain # of classes (as opposed to paying for the whole term and then you're unable to attend all of the classes).

Less than 400 kronor is a great deal. Flying in to Skavsta, yes?

Re: Swedish lesson

yes, unfortunatelly, all flights to Arlanda was 3 times more expensive ... for sure there is any bus ar train to the center of Stockholm...

Check out www.flygbussarna.se, they handle the traffic between Skavsta and the city center (takes about 1,5 hours). I know Ryanair has a service, I think it's called Bus 2 go or something similar, but I have only used Flygbussarna and they're reliable.

Otherwise, if you come too late at night it would be wise to spend the night there and then take the bus the next day. There's a Connect Hotel either close to Skavsta or in the premises.

And last but not least: you cannot use cash when paying for the ticket omboard but credit/bank cards are fine. With that said, I think you can save some money by buying the tickets online and printing them at home.

If you want, we could meet up for dinner or lunch or something.

Travel Tips for Stockholm

Midsummerfest

by Ken_Weaver

We thought that it was good planning to arrive in Stockholm for the Midsummerfest weekend...wrong! Businesses shut down on Friday at 3PM and even most of the restaurants were closed all weekend. Locals all take the time off and go to the country. We did see the remains of a Midsummerfest icon left in a park.

6 degrees of separation

I remember meeting up with a friend of mine Sara. She knew another friend of mine, Dan, whom I hadn't seen in over 5 years or so. It is great how travelling can bring people together again! All the other people I met while I was there make me want to go back. Just to hang out with them again.

This twisted pistol in the middle of town is symbol of peace... i believe the person who sculpted this- Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, has a few other similar pieces of work at various spots the world over. Thomas (Nobbe) tells me that there is one at Malmo and another in New York...
