Astonishing city! I had spend just a day in the marvellous Stockholm but is one place that I will never forget. The beauty of its parks......everything seemd like a huge park to me.It is one elegant and full of class place on earth.Visit the parks, on little island and pensulas...feed the birds...it is just such an amasing part of Europe. Falling asleep on a bench in a park, with worm sun on my face and never had to worry about anything!
Getting Lost
by bottleofdoom
So we get lost trying to find the record stores. They were on Eriksgatan, not Erkisberggatan! But, since we were lost we made the best of it. We wound up in a residential neighborhood with mucho architecture & photo ops. I took lots of photos of the cool scandanavian buildings.

SHOPPING
Shop at NK or Åhlens and other small boutiques and shoe retails at Norrmalm: Hamngatan - Norrlandsgatan - Kungsgatan and Drottninggatan.
I liked to go to Hötorgshallen at
Hötorget which is an indoor market with a strong international flavor. Lots of exotic products from all corners of the world are housed within its walls.
I used to buy my sliced
turkey-breast here!
...and when you are done go have a nice coffee at the GRAND HOTEL afterwards.

Visit Drottningholm Castle - the residence of King Carl XVI Gustaf. Fabulous park and castle! Go there on a sunny summer day by steamboat from central Stockholm. If you're lucky, you might just catch a glimpse of the royal family ...
Visiting friends...

Just a simple tip.
When visiting someone's house in Sweden (and I've found the same in other Scandinavian countries) you take off your shoes when entering their house. There is usually a space just inside the door for you to place you shoes.
In Australia (where I live) you usually only take your shoes off if they're really dirty (caked in mud or something). But here, no matter how clean your shoes are, you take them off, it is the respectful thing to do.
This applied also at the hostel I stayed at (City Backpackers), but not all hostels require you to take off your shoes.
