Is there any way to get a free map of Stockholm at the airport?
Do they give you a tunnelbana map when you buy the travel card?
Does one really have to come 2 hours in advance to have one's shoes searched?

2) No, but there are maps available in poster-like sizes and behind glass frames at all stations. If you can print it before you come here, there's a map at:

3) I'd say no, but it depends on when you're leaving and if there's a lot of flights leaving near your ETD. Check with your airline if they provide online check-in and self-service kiosks (in case you don't have access to a printer at home) because if you can check in online and print your boarding pass, then you don't *need* to be there so early.

Honestly, I don't think I'll bother about printing the boarding-pass; the queues are not there, but at the security control, and the guards do not do self-check-in, I am afraid :)

Note that at security control you'll need to show a boarding pass.
Free maps of the city are available at the stations of the Arlanda Express.
I have never found long queues at the security check, but I have found long queues at the check-in counters.

Maybe even get myself checked-in. Actually the ticket says I already have the seat confirmed, I wonder what else they would want me to do :)
If in need to wash your already soiled underware and shirts there is a place at the Soderlmam area where you can do it. I was told that there are only two places in Stockholm this is one of them.

I haven’t had so many good moments in Stockholm. I’m not even sure if I ever have seen my favourite-team win there…?
However, the qualification game Sweden-England 1998 was truly fantastic. A atmosphere that was so good that not even a Swedish derby can beat it, with a Swedish team that played better than they had done for years, and won 2-1, against the English favourites. Alan Shearer scored 0-1 on a freekick after just one minut, but Sweden fought back, and won thanks to a memorable goal by Johan Mjällby.
After the game, English hooligans tried to destroy their whole section, while we went crazy for the rest of day, and then all the way to the Euro2000 in Belgium/Holland.
Stockholm is a popular tourist destination from tourists from all over the world. All seasons are popular, but the high season is the summer time. Stockholm is a summer season, especially with so much water around. You have so many places where you can go down to the water and just sit and relax. Or bring your lunch or picnic. I have so many good memories about Stockholm, that I will not have any particular thing to share with you. Too many.
This area of Södermalm (southern Stockholm) is the only place where these wooden houses - dating back to the first half of the 18th century - can be found. As a result of several fires burning down large portions of Stockholm, these wooden houses were banned around 1730.
A great thing in summer are picnics in a park. In summer people here love to hang out somewhere outside. So, the perfect thing to combine two "customs" preparty and picnic is a vine-picnic. Of course the best way to enjoy a vine-picnic in one of the many parks, is in charming company with a good bottle of wine... There are so many good spots to hang out, that it is hard to recomend a particular one (my favourite spots are all in Södermalm) so just walk around and discover your own favourite spots...
One detail you shouldn't forget about, is the fact that you cannot buy vine in any store at any given time. You have to go to a state controlled alcohol store called System Bolaget (green and yellow signs). They are open untill 19h00 although there are exceptions, the one exception I know is on the way from Ahlens to Centralen, that System Bolaget is open untill 20h00...
