Stockholm (25/06-02/07)

by magedrussia

Hello All

I'm planning to Fly to Stockholm for one week holiday with my wife, & we're looking for a room to stay there during this visit, but we're not able to find anything cheap as it's now a high season, Would appreciate if anyone can recomend for us an advice,

Regards
Maged

How much can you spend per room per day? Would you prefer a hotel or a hostel? Because hostels can be cheap if you don't mind shared facilities. Or check out STF Fridhemsplan, they have private rooms (I believe they're called hostels plus).

Unfortunately, that is high season indeed...

Although STF Fridhemsplan's prices are equal to that of a budget hotel if you pick the double rooms - and that's without breakfast...

Perhaps a B&B could be OK: http://www.stockholm-bed-and-breakfast.se/

Go to www.guestroom.se - I managed to get a twin room for 2 nights for 33 euros each night per person. This includes breakfast and I am staying just round from the Royal Palace in the old town. They are an agency (but no fees)and have rooms to let, some with breakfast, just sharing a bathroom with the home owner. These are mostly home owners who let out rooms but as Stockholm is so expensive they are great. they have rooms in the city centre and old town. It's a good site with good information and they responded the next day and the room was reserved and confirmed the next day. Hope this helps.

Travel Tips for Stockholm

Sunset from TV Tower / Kaknästornet

by DJ-HEHE

If the weather is nice then you have to go to Kakn?stornet TV tower where you can see a beautiful sunset while you are eating dinner in the tower restaurant.

I've taken this picture there.

Don't miss it.

See the City hall,...

by ettan

See the City hall, Drottningholm, Gamla stan (The old city), take a boat to the archipellago, see Skansen(zoo), etc. is walkin the town with a friend and watching the city in its whole. The archipellago and the clean enviorment.

Boats, boats, boats

by Sjalen

What I miss most when away is the scenery with boats everywhere. It's absolutely ALL kind of boats too as this picture shows with a viking ship, an old sailing ship, a steam ship and a modern ferry...Love it!

Skansen

by CandS

Here's a reindeer we came across at Skansen.

Beware - the reindeer section was very smelly but I just had to get a photo of a real reindeer! ;)

He's kind of cute...even though he REALLY stunk...

Coffee

by sue_stone

Swedes love their coffee. Stockholm is covered with cafes and coffee shops filled with friends meeting up for a coffee and some conversation. A Swedish friend has told me that they are more likely to meet up for a coffee than a (alcoholic) drink, and drink coffee all night....how do they get any sleep!!!

We had a few coffees on the weekend and generally the quality was good, and the prices on par with London (ie. not cheap!).

There were a large number of 'chain' coffee shops (though didn't see any Starbucks!) and we stopped in at one of them, Wayne's Coffee for a latte and a break from our meandering.
