Britney Spears, N'sync, J. LO, and Celine Dion actually all had their Number One hits recorded in Sweden. And a lot of thir songs were actually written by Swedish songwriters, Swedish producers and used Swedish backing. In 2001, more songs by Swedish songwriters were on the charts in the UK than any other country. (I just researched all of this info.)
You don't see a lot of Swedish artists are making the charts in North America, but when you visit Sweden you may discover some of their music. One funny example is Markoolio.. a Swedish rapper mostly popular with school-aged children. Other Swedish artists who are popular there right now include Lena Philipsson, A*Teens, and Charlotte Nilsson, Eva Dahlgren, Thomas Ledin, Kent and Freda.
