Next to Arlanda Express

Hotel is located very close to the Arlanda Express Train Station in which makes u able to reach the Hotel even w ur suitcases in walking distance ... Just acrossing the main street in front of the Hotel, u r able to reach the main attractions as shopping street, main squares, cafes etc, very central located Hotel ...

Has a unique Icebar in the Hotel Lobby area as entrance which is a must see ... Rooms are kindda compact and small, but very well and comfy furnished. There is a huge aquarium w several kinds of fishes in the Lobby as u can watch while drinking some in the Lobby Bar.

Staff is kind and ready to help for ur questions, well sorted breakfast buffet, clean and tidy Hotel.

Very recommendable for business and / or touristic stays ...

Great hotel, great location!

This hotel was awesome! It was really clean and even though I had to sleep on the couch, it was pretty comfortable. The whole room was decently sized and included a computer desk/work area. The breakfast buffet was GREAT! The service was good too. The people at the front desk were very helpful in providing directions, etc. You can't beat this location either. It's right next to the station where the Arlanda Express comes in and close to shopping. It's only about a 10 minute walk to Gamla Stan.

The only thing that was interesting, but kind of annoying was the Absolut Icebar. It drew a lot of tourists into the lobby at night.

Unique Quality: The location was one of the best parts about this hotel. It was just all around nice, though.

Cool Hotel

The Nordic Sea Hotel (4 stars) has an excellent location by the central train station, literally 5 seconds walk to the Arlanda Express! Rooms are a bit on the small side, but perfectly adequate with TV, minibar, safe, ironing board, kettle and free broadband access (by modem). Buffet breakfast is included in the charge and is not too bad at all. The clientele appears to be a mix of tourists and business travellers.

Unique Quality: Excellent location just next to the Arlanda Express. Ice Bar on site!

Stylish, convenient hotel...with an Ice Bar!

If you're visiting Stockholm and are looking for a centrally located, convenient and reasonably priced (does such a thing exist in Stockholm?!) hotel, then you could do a lot worse than The Nordic Sea Hotel.

If you're arriving in Stockholm by air, then this is an extremely conveniently located hotel - it is situated a 1 minute walk from the Arlanda Express terminal that connects the city with the airport.

The hotel itself is very impressive with stylish decor throughout, friendly staff and well furnished rooms.

The price varies according on the type of room that you opt for. I chose a small single (the cheapest available!) and ended up in a very small, windowless room. However, it was clean and comfortable and possessed all the amenities that I required, so no complaints!

Don't be put off by this! If you're prepared to spend more, then you'll be able to get a nice, spacious, palatial double room.

Breakfast is included in the price and, quite frankly, it is absolutely brilliant!! Each morning I would start with a bowl of cornflakes, followed by a bowl of strawberry yoghurt. Then maybe a croissant with jam. Then I'd be onto the bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, toast.......and maybe a couple of cakes to round it off nicely! :-)

Unique Quality: The prime factor for me deciding to stay at this hotel, though, was the fact that it houses the world's first permanent "Ice Bar". On the ground floor of the hotel, there is a bar that is constructed completely from ice! For a hefty entrance fee (but definitely worth it!), you will be provided with a large thermal coat, reminiscent of the type worn by Eskimos, and a pair of gloves. You then pass through a door into what is effectively a large freezer. The internal walls of the bar are constructed from ice (giving an igloo effect), the tables are made from ice and the bar itself is sheer ice. Your chosen flavour of vodka will be served to you in a hollowed out block of ice - very refreshing!

Even if you choose not to stay at this hotel, be sure to make a trip to the Ice Bar as non-guests are welcome to drink in the bar.

I booked this hotel via: www.destination-stockholm.com. In doing so, I received a free "Stockholm a la Carte" card for the duration of my stay, and a free guidebook to the city's attractions.

Nordic Sea Hotel

Very stylish large modern independent 4-star hotel, next to the main station. The building is actually a former police station, although you wouldn't know it given the way it has been converted. The large lobby has a good sized bar, a huge aquarium, and the world's only year-round ice bar (very cool!).

The standard rooms are smallish ("compact"), but very comfortable and nicely furnished. Good quality breakfast, and friendly staff. Also, it is right by the entrance to Stockholm Central Station and the Arlanda Express platforms, so is very handy if you are travelling by train or going to/from the airport.

Rack rates here are expensive, but they often have special offers (eg at weekends) which can make it a much more affordable option. Most recently in December 2004 we paid SEK 1,190/night for a superior double room, inc breakfast.

NB: The "cheapest" small rooms at this hotel are very small and have no windows.

Unique Quality: Huge aquarium in the Lobby.
The world's only year-round Ice Bar.

More about Nordic Sea

The nordic sea was a great!!!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member Chewbacca21

The Nordic sea is an excellent hotel in a very good location, it is located next to the arlandia airport express station and 5 mins walk from bus station. It is a 5 min walk to the shops and a 10-15 min walk to the old town (Gamla Stan)
Alternatively there is a metro station next to the hotel which is a good way to get around stockholm

The room was a good size and it was very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Breakfast buffet was very good and was included in our room rate. At £60 per night the hotel was excellent value as well. It also has the added attraction of having an Ice bar next to the hotel lobby. The Ice bar was great yes its a bit touristy and expensive but its well worth it.

Overall an excellent hotel wouldn't hesitate to visit the hotel again whenever we are again in Stockholm

An excellent choice

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had a great 3 night stay at the Nordic Sea Hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking a high quality, good value hotel in a central location.

Our room was quite small but otherwise first class, wooden floors, great duvet and a fantastic bathroom. Breakfast is self serve, but well above average. Hotel lobby and bar very welcoming - while you must visit the Ice Bar (booking recommended) - a unique experience. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and efficient.

Location is very central - right by the station and airport express- less than 10 minutes to waterfront, main tourist areas and shopping.

In summary; an excellent choice if staying in Stockholm - great value and a definite cut above the average 4 star hotel.

A different hotel with 'personality'

by A TripAdvisor Member

Location is superb, leaving the Arlanda airport express train station you literally stumble on it. Close to city centre, shopping area, the waterfront.

Front desk friendly and professional (this time, I had experienced some severe problems two years ago). Staff in breakfast room still overworked and unfriendly, like some years ago. The breakfast room has too little tables for too many people, forcing the individual business man to share table with large families in shorts on holidays. Choice of buffet is excellent.

Good room, tastefully decorated, a bit different than other hotels in same price category. Shower ditto, just a little touch more than average. Water pressure not too good actually.

Good TV choice. Unlike so many hotels where you - or worse your kids - can land zapping on adult channels to unvoluntary watch scenes you don't wanna watch for some minutes, the N Sea system only displays the sounds of these channels and leave it all to your imagination ...

The inhouse Ice Bar is the attraction of the hotel that should not be missed. The bar area is although rather dark something special by the huge aquarium.

For sport/sauna facilities one has to cross the street to sister hotel Nordic Light, quiet a hussle actually.

All in all, considering the fact that I only paid around 100 Euro for a night including the breakfast it is above average value for the money. And I would most likely go back. Having been in both hotels, Nordic Sea and Nordic Light, my choice is for Nordic Sea, it's has more character, is more special and has 'personality'.

Just take the underground (called tunnelbana in Swedish) to Kista. Blue line with final destination Akalla. The journey takes 17 minutes. Here's the web site http://sl.se/english/

Hi Jhhlim,

You going to Stockholm to work in Ericsson? My bf is working there too. Yes, Ericsson is just a walking distance from Kista train station. You can even see Ericsson signboard when you alight at Kista subway station. SaraOh give you an excellent directory website as guidance, to find your way round in Stockholm by using public transport. The website is excellent, it even tells you the duration of journey and timing.

Happy journey!!

thanks SaraOh for the info.

Arriving Stokcholm Sunday (9/4) morning, of course there will be some sight seeing to be carried on that day. then from Mon to Fri will be travelling to and fro Kista daily. Checked with the site http://sl.se/english
Its a little confusing.

So what's the cheapest way to travel? So by buying the coupons or travel cards would be better off???? I see travel cards have only 1 day or 3 days but not 6 days (which i required)

Advice please ! thanks
