Can anyone advice me a reasonable hotel near Stockholm International Fairs and Congress Centre please? Thank you in advance

Re: hotel near Stockholm International Fairs and Congress Centre

If nothing better shows up, Hotel Älvsjö charges 595 SEK for a budget single room with breakfast shared bathroom and you can walk to the Center. Info taken from: http://online.citybreak.com/Search/Search6.aspx?onlineid=1591754524&culture=en-GB and then the Congress Center has a page for accommodations at http://www.stockholmsmassan.se/common/category.aspx?id=492.

Hope it helps.

PS: I was about to hit the "Post" button when I found these other hotels that might be cheaper than Hotel Älvsjö and that are located within walking distance:

Connect Hotel Stockholm: http://www.connecthotel.se/ (Stockholmsmässan)

Are you still interested in going to Abisko to see the aurora? In that case, you might get a good deal with SAS all the way if you go Stuttgart or Frankfurt-Stockholm-Kiruna: http://www.scandinavian.net another alternative is Munich-Stockholm-Kiruna with Fly Nordic: http://www.flynordic.com/

Otherwise, the cheapest way to Stockholm from that area is to catch Ryanair from Frankfurt. Having said that, it won't work out that cheap as their flights don't leave from Frankfurt airport but from Hahn, half way to Luxemburg! Then when you get to Stockholm, you are not at a major airport their either but in a small town an hour south of it. This adds lots of money and time to your trip. www.ryanair.com

But if you don't get a flight all the way to Kiruna, you can catch the night train from Stockholm that I mentioned in your earlier posting (the one stopping at Abisko): www.connex.se Very cheap if you share a simple cabin with other people and quite an experience.

by Antoine_Llop

If you have decidad to visit Stockholm you can not miss the tremendous architecture. You really have to visit Gammlastone, The Royal Palace, every corner onthe city which can gives to you the best picture or it. If you want to take a look over Stockholm you should go to the north side of street Erstag. At Stockholm you will realiza how easy is find out help from people ´couse everyone in there speak english fluenty. And..there is no point in mention that you will find lots of great places to stay during your visit, there´s a lot of good, cheap and comfortable youth hostells to be there and enjoy having a grat dinner roud a table plenty of trevellers like you, or if you prefer drinking a beer an having a good laught with friends.. When I´m away from this culture capital I really miss the lovely view from the south-east side stocholm, where you can have the best view by far, if you do you´ll find the gorgeus mixture of colours in the air, the sea, the special green colour from roofs....

When you stay here you must go in the Gamla Stan, the old town. The most important streets of the zone of two, the Osterlanggatan and the Vasterlangatan. Here you can look for all the nice shop, but you must remember to take a look at the small buildings and their facades. Take a look also at the very nearest street that you can find.

It isn't a museum, but I'd like very much a book shop that I found here. It's a Fantasy Book Shop, where you can find many book write in english.

Stockholm Tip

by Chris_Dahlia

GAMLA STAN
Gamla Stan covers the original island of Stadsholmen, Riddarholmen (the island of the knights and nobles), Helgeandsholmen, occupied by the Riksdag (Parliament) and the tiny blob of Strömsborg, all so close that it is sometimes difficult to realise you have crossed from one to another. The best place to start a tour is Stortorget, the center of the original city, from which narrow streets fan out in all directions.

Changing of the guard

by HORSCHECK

The changing of the guard ceremony takes place every day in the Outer Courtyard of the Royal Palace, on weekdays at 12:15 pm and on sundays at 1:15 pm.
The Royal Palace is situated on the small island of the Old Town "Gamla Stan".
