Partying all night after ryanair arrival?

by adder30

Hi,my flight gets in at midnight. instead of burning a day in the hotel i wonder if its possible to leave my luggage, say at the central train station? get spruced up enough to get into southside clubs and party until around 8am? find a cafe for breakfast and then collect bags to check in for 12pm at my hotel? So logistics that i would like help with are:
a) are there public transport running 24 hours
b) what time do clubs close
c) are there lockers large enough for a 50 litre rucksack
thanks!

I like your idea! But not really doable in Stockholm :-(

From Arlanda its a bit more than 1 hour into town by bus or train, dont know if they do it still after midnight, AND maybe Stockholm Airport is not in Arlanda for Ryanair, I dont know, they are sometimes a bit "flexible" regarding this.
---
You might save a few bucks by flying Rhyanair and then you really want to spend 3 times as much money in a nightclub ?? ;-)
At the central bus-station you find lockers, but I dont know what time they are closing.
b.t.w. buses from Arlanda dont accept any cash-money, you actually need a creditcard there !!!

Ryanair flies into Vasteras or Skavsta, both being 1.5 hours by bus (accept credit cards, tickets cost 15 GBP one-way)

so that means you dont arrive before 02.00am in Stockholm`s centre

As far as I know, undergrounds runs all night every 30 minutes, but ONLY on nights between Friday-Saturday and Saturday-Sunday.

Of course you can. You don't necessarily need public transport since the City terminal is in the city centre, even if you've got a 10 minute walk to the funnier places. This does however mean that you need a warm coat if you come this time of year. There is a "wardrobe" service in many Swedish clubs and pubs which means that you HAVE to leave your coat there and pay for it :( That, along with entrance and drinks might leave you paying almost as much as for a cheap hotel, but sure, it is DO-able. :)

Travel Tips for Stockholm

Art in the Underground

by hevbell

Many of the cities underground/Tunnelbana stations have been decorated in different ways which makes them a lot more interesting to pass through! Some [like this one at Kista] have sculptures, others have painted walls, mosaics etc but they are all different. You can get a free guided tour of some of the more interesting stops

You gotta go to the City Hall...

by wena

You gotta go to the City Hall Tower. From up there, the view of Stockholm is wonderful. You can see almost all of the city, from the parliament building, to the globe arena. I miss to see the beautiful view from the City Hall. That's why, go there, my friend!

As everybody says, you must...

by sgoeke

As everybody says, you must walk through Gamla Stan. Several times. If you come from the US as I did, it is truly amazing. The buildings are wonderful to look at and just picture all of the history that took place. I had the benefit of a native that told me the history, but you can get it otherwise if you look around. I know there is a walking tour (yeah, I know) through Gamla Stan. The changing of the guard is quite fun, Livruskammaren (sp?), and the two large churches (the Royal Church and the German Church) are both very impressive. It is obvious that they were not tossed together quickly, but a great deal of time was spent building them...from the woodwork inside to the sculpture on the outside, it is all impressive.

Monument St.George and the Dragon

The history of Stockholm
~~~~~~
Monument St.George and the Dragon
This legendary sculpture of the battle between St.George and the Dragon was taken as a victory monument of the battle of Brunkeberg (see previous tip). The monument is an alter monument for the shrine to St. George in the Stockholm Cathedral - Storkyrkan. The monument was commissioned by Sten Sture the Elder. There is a lot of symbolism seen in this monument. Sten Sture the Elder was seen as St.George, who was victorious over the dragon (King Christian of Denmark) saving the princess (Sweden).
In Sweden speak Swedish or English
by Sofiabuh
One of the things Swedes really don't like is someone coming to Sweden speaking any other language than Swedish or English.
The way we see it is that we have made an effort to learn the international language and so should everybody else do too.
