    Nice Hilltop Hotel

The hotel was quiet, comfortable, and relaxing. Rooms were of good size and comfy, if not stylish. A great buffet breakfast is served on the top floor, with an excellent panorama view of Stockholm.

When we visited, Tegnérlunden was a member of the SkanPlus consortium, which allowed for steep discounts off the rack rate (SEK 1775 per double room as of January 2007) on weekends and during Summer (I think we paid about SEK 750). While the SkanPlus program has been discontinued, the hotel offers discount packages for weekends and some days in the summer. They also have special deals for extra beds or rooms for accompanying children and teenagers -- check the website for details. Garage facilities are available for SEK 250 per night.

Unique Quality: - Quiet, relaxing hotel overlooking a residential park
    - Friendly service
    - Gym and sauna facilities available
    - Garage parking (for additional fee)
    - Excellent buffet breakfast with panorama view of Stockholm

Directions: T-Bana to Rådmansgatan. Turn left on Rådmansgaten (uphill) and continue until you see Tegnérlunden park. Turn left -- the hotel will be offset on your left, overlooking the park.

    Hotell Tegnérlunden

This is a modern (1980s?), medium-sized (103 room) 3-star hotel on a quiet sqaure just north of the main shopping street. The rooms are comfortable and average size, and have large openable windows. There is a nice view over the rooftops from the 6th floor breakfast room.

Short walk to the T-bana (Rådmansgatan).

We stayed here in August 1999, and paid SEK 800/night for a double (inc. breakfast). Now operates under the Ramada banner.

Drottninggatan is where you go if you want to find antiquarian book shops as here they are almost side by side for a bit on the upper part near Tegnerlunden park. You will also find literary quotes on plaques in the street as you walk along.

There is a Ryanair bus straight to Stockholm (City Terminal next to the Central station) from Västerås, matching arrivals. Otherwise, there are also airport buses: http://www.peopletravel.se/en/koncernen/

As for where to stay, all the addresses you give are central and with nice bars etc. in the areas.
