Travel Tips for Karlstad

Relax!

Karlstad isn't the largest city in Sweden, far from it even so if you come here it's not to rush by everything. Granted that there are quite a lot of nice pubs and nightclubs but during the day you should let the day have it's own pace. If it's nice weather I recommend you going to Skutberget and just sit and relax. Bring a disposable barbeque and have something to eat. If you come here by bike you might even have a beer out there (remember to buy at Systembolaget and put the bag in the water to cool the beer).

Enjoy yourself, relax!

Löfbergs Lila Arena

Löfbergs Lila Arena is the home groudn for Färjestad BK hockey team. During the regular season you might be able to get some tickets to a match unless it's a real "high interest match". Tickets are sold at Scalateatern.

The arena is built after an NHL-arena model only smaller in size. For hockey the arena takes 8250 spectators out of which some 700 standing.

LLA is also where major music acts play. For instance Elton John, Judas Priest, Roxette and Joh Fogerty have all been here. This summer Rod Stewart will come.

There is also a nice lunch restaurant here with a view over the playing ground.

Abit longer off the path, in northerna parts of the county about 100km from Karlstad theres real wilderness. Go there and see the big four. Wolf, bear, bobcat and järv in swedish besides all the elk and raindeer you can see check out this site before, for prices and so on.Great fun and see animals live!There is a museum for you weakhearted or allergic aswell.

See the Town Hall

The Town Hall, facing the main square from the west is a nice building worth casting a glimpse on. These days it houses the District court in Karlstad so you MAY enter the building.

Don't forget to admire the eagles of justice on top of the building!

The Elm block

The Elm block was one of the very few areas to survive the fire in 1865 and hence it is there that you will find the prettiest buildings in the city centre. It block is strategically located next to the river so it's a nice stroll for half an hour or so around the houses.
