Considering the Ibis Karlstad in Karlstad?

Duke Karl, founder of Karlstad by Rojo72
It was in 1584 that the Duke Karl issued city rights for the merchant place Tingvalla. The name of the new city was Karlstad and the duke became King Karl (Charles) IX in 1604.
The Statue of the Duke can be seen outside the residence of the Landshövding, on Järnvägsgatan, just east of the Square.
The monument itself depicts "C IX R.S" which is a latin abbreviation for Charles IX Rex Sveciae", Charles IX King of Sweden holding the bill with the city rights.
