Landshövding (County governor), literally Chieftain of the land was an appointment made by the King to one man to be the "prolonged arm" of the King in the counties of Sweden. The title still exists and the Landshövding today is the chairperson of the county administrative board. The role of the Landshövding is also to promote the well-being of the county in General.The Governor of Värmland is Eva Eriksson and she resides in this mansion on Järnvägsgatan just opposite to the monument of King Karl IX.
If you go to see it, please note the golden crown just above the entrance, which was put there by His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip a few years ago.
