I need advice. My grandmother died and the funeral is on the 23rd December in the morning.
My family are travelling to Northern Finland through Sweden for Christmas.
I can get into Stockholm for 9.15 PM on the 23rd. I need to get up to Umea for early the following morning.
The plains, trains and buses are of no help.
Can anyone suggest anything at all?
Do I get this right, you are attending a funeral close to Stockholm on the 23rd and want to be in Umea at a certain time in the early morning hours of the 24th to catch up with your family? You can't travel northwards before 9.15pm on the 23rd?
I think the only option would be to try and catch the Ybuss (http://www.ybuss.se) to Umea, which leaves Stockholm at 9pm and you will be in Umea early the next morning. If you're not travelling alone you could also rent a car and drive all night long.

I am attending a funeral in the UK, but arriving into Stockholm by plane at 9.15.
So I am too late to make a night bus, and a flight.
On the north side of the city you will find the hill called Bräntberget, in the winter this is a slope for downhill skiing, but it's always a good place for getting a view over the north of the town. Here a picture showing the area Mariehem.
