Clean Energy
by ratherton
This tip isn't exclusive for Gothenburg, it's for several parts of Sweden. One of the main sources of energy are wind farms. This one is south of Gothenburg on the road to Halmstad but you will find them all over the place as you travel around Sweden
Slottskogen
by HORSCHECK
Slottskogen (The Castle Forest) is the biggest green park of Goteborg's many parks. It is a nice place for all sorts of recreations. For example the park includes a frisbee golf course, a pool with seals and the Natural History Museum, just to mention a few of its possibilities. Most people come here to take a relaxing stroll along the green lawns and many little lakes. My accomodation was located just at the northern border of the Park, so every morning I could enjoy the view over the park.
Directions:
Slottskogen is situated southwest of the city centre. The best tram stop is "Linneplatsen" (trams 1, 6), but there are some other tram stops all around the park.
Buying alcohol
by annamantere
The place for buing alcohol is called "Systembolaget". In Sweden buing alcohol is not just a matter of walking in to the shop and picking up what you want. Here in Sweden you have ton choose what you want from a catalogue or looking at the bottles on the shelfs behind locked glasses... Then you go and get a Q-number and when it´s your turn you walk up to the counter (like in the pharmacist or something) and ask for what you want. Then the man/woman gets the bottles for you from behind the counter. ID is always asked for.
Packing List
by catbert
The best type of bag is the one you like the most!
But i recommend you to take a back pack. Skip the italian leather shoes.
Take shoes that stands both sun and rain
Bring a Gore Tex jacket with you. Don´t think to much about this.
Remeber you CAN drink the water in the bathroom. So water on a bottle is a little expensive in sweden. No problems! Camping. You can stop and camp almost every where in sweden. You dont have to camp at a camping, but you better read this:

Views from over Kiellers Park mountain
by Durfun
This place in Ramberget, Hisingren area is indeed a find, because you travel slightly northwest by tram & then you have to walk for about 10-15 minutes.
You'll be passing residential flat blocks and parades of shops, never imagining seeing a mountain in such a neighbourhood.
But all of a sudden, at a road junction, out of the blue, you see a huge, chunky mass of mountain!!!
My Dad had given up, thinking there is no way there can be anything with good elevation around, and he barely said that when we saw it. A most pleasant & impressive surprise :)
It's a beautiful park that you walk into and up, practically circumnavigating the base of the mountain, passing a garage on the left, carrying on & then eventually turning right into the entrance of Keillers Park, signposted and all :)
I loved discovering this place, helped by the superb directions of Hakan, my buddy.
