It must be said that the approach to the Comfort Hotel didn't give much cause for optimism. In fact the leviathan power plant outside the front door could lead you to believe you had disembarked in Springfield rather than Gothenburg. Inside the ingenuity of the hotel space planner was evident in creating what could be described as a fairly compact room. That said the design and facilities were both clean and modern. The inclusion of a small flat-screen TV was a nice touch although TV reception was more Poltergeist 3 than HD. Being enclosed on all sides by other buildings natural light was in short supply and the views likely to only appeal to fans of Hitchcock’s ‘Rear Window. ’ Full marks however for the fabulous idea of self-service waffle making facilities as well as hot and cold drinks all without charge each afternoon.
