Göteborg accommodation

by luisalaranjo

Hello

so I finally decided to visit Göteborg after Norway (yuhooo), and in Norway I managed to book really nice accommodation at fare prices thanks to the great tips I had from VirtualTourists :)

Therefore I feel like asking again if anyone can recommend nice accomodation at fare prices in Göteborg for 2 nights? I would like to stay somewhere typical swedish, but not very far from the city centre. Is this possible? :)

Takk! Ha det

Hi Luisa,

it's me again! ;)
Last time we visited Göteborg we stayed at Kville Hotel. It's at Hisingen, not far from the town centre. There are several bus routes going to the centre from a bus terminal close to the hotel. I'm not sure if it's "typical Swedish", though. But it's a nice B&B with friendly staff and we enjoyed our stay very much.
I've written a tip about this hotel. Have a look at it if you'd like more info!

Cheers,
Elena

There are a lot of cheap hotels in gothenburg and also a lot of hostels available. If you really wanna go and feel something Swedish and fairly cheap why don't try a guesthouse? http://www.goteborgguesthouse.com I had a friend living in this accomodation (http://www.goteborgguesthouse.com/results.asp?RoomID=KP2) and he was more than pleased.

So, of use to anyone going to Göteborg, may be the city's official homepage at www.goteborg.se
For tourism info you can mail turistinfo@goteborg.com
Telephone number to the tourist offices:
+4631-61 25 00
There are two of them, one locates on Kungsportsplatsen where the big Avenue starts, and the other within the huge mall-complex of Nordstan.

Also, the official Swedish tourism web-site is:

Ok, this makes you a real swedish !!! What you can see in the pic is just a nice box ... it could contain candies ... but actually it does not ... at all !!!
This is tobacco ... and not to smoke, to "eat" ... ok, better, to keep into the mouth and taste; no problem, when you're bored you can put it out ....
So I bought this andI was extremely sure I can try ... but believe me, after one week I didn't dare to do it :-)

Ullevi Stadium

by HORSCHECK

The Ullevi Stadium is one of Sweden's most famous stadiums. The all-seater arena with a capcity of 43.000 was opened in 1958 when Sweden hosted the football world cup. Since then it has hosted numerous football and athletics events as well as rock and pop concerts. The stadium isn't home to any of Goteborg's football clubs. Nevertheless, games between the local clubs often take place in the Ullevi Stadium.
The 19th European Athletics Championships will take place in the Ullevi Stadium from the 6th to the 13th August 2006.

IKEA

In what place could be better to see Swedish design at its best and most famous?

There are two floors, in which upstairs are display rooms, retail space and a restaurant, which serves primarily Swedish food and there is a bistro and a small supermarket downstairs, which exclusively sells Swedish food and is cheap by Swedish standard

There are two IKEAs in Gothenburg. One in Kållered and the one that I went to is in Hisings Backa. It is accessible by bus No. 40
from Angered and Johanneberg or bus No.43 from Gerebacka and Centralen. It is quite far away from Gothenburg city centre. It is next to a giant retailer park on your right.

Opening Hours: Mon-Fri 1000-2000
Sat & Sun 1000-1800

Restaurant: Mon-Fri 1100-1900,
Sat & Sun 1100-1730

Café: Mon-Fri 1000-1930
Sat & Sun: 1000-1730

Enjoy!
