The location of this hotel is really great, not far from the Opera House and Lipstick Building, in an old boat right on the water. It is also very reasonably priced, especially for Sweden. The rooms are extremely small, with just enough room for a bed, a tiny corner desk and a TV mounted on the wall. There is a bathroom in the room as well. There is a continental breakfast available to guests for an extra 85SEK per person, per day. The breakfast area is also a restaurant at night, but I didn’t eat there. Wifi is available in the rooms for a charge. When we first checked in we were given a room with a view of the parking lot, so we went back to the front desk and asked to be moved to a room with a view of the water, which we got with no problems. If you’re going to stay on a boat, you should have a view of the water and the boats that use the canal! Even though you are on a boat, you can’t really tell. When big ships cruise by, the boat stays perfectly still. The staff were pleasant enough and everyone I encountered spoke at least Swedish and English. There is a large parking lot as well.
It's about a 7-10 minute walk from the main train station.
We paid 800 SEK per night.
Unique Quality: It's on a boat!
The rooms here are a little small, but they are in reality boat cabins so you can't expect too much. My room was clean and tidy although the bed was pretty low to the floor, perhaps this is a Scandanavian thing although they were comfortable enough. The shower worked fine and the bathroom was large enough not to bump your elbows turning. The window only fully opened with the curtains pinned back, but as the cabins are overlooked by office buildings shouldn't be a problem on a hot summer night, but still annoying. I found the staff to be very helpfull and friendly, especially the ever dutifull Mira who seemed to be on call all day and night in the bar and reception. The restaurant serves good food and quite a choice too in the evenings, and they have the most delightfull blackberry flavoured cider. I wish we had that back in England.
Unique Quality: A boat converted to a hotel. Good views of the river if your lucky to get a river cabin. Tourist brouchures and guides available in the lobby in English. Central location just 10 minutes from the bus and train station. 5 minutes from the ferry at Lilla Bommen and the Opera House. If you book on the Ibis web site and promise not to cancel and change the booking you can get a good discount on the room.
Directions: Next to the Lilla Bommen complex just along the quayside.
