The Avenue, or 'Avenyn' is a lively boulevard that is bordered by trees, shops, restaurants, cinemas, museums and theatres, making it a favourite strolling area for residents and guests of the city. Amongst some sights you will find the Museum of Art, the Concert Hall, the City Library, and the Museum of Design and Crafts. At the south end of the avenue is Götaplatsen, recognisable by the Poseidon Statue that was sculpted by the famous Swedish artist Carl Milles.
The Avenue connects two squares, Götaplatsen and Kungsportsplatsen. The buildings are unique in that they are divided into two sides by architectural differences. On one side, French architecture dominates, whilst on the other, examples of English architecture are the more dominant.
