I left the bakery and walked across the street to this small Old Catholic church. I sat on the stone wall and ate my sandwich. I took a few moments to look back at the bakery and reflect upon the experience. This was a perfect ending to a wonderful day. I finished the sandwich and walked into the church to find a beautiful chapel with some elegant art work. Then I left. I was so glad I did not go to one of the restaurants by the station.
Aigle is located in the heart of the vineyard region of Switzerland. Vineyards literally cover the village and its gentle mountain slopes. It is a beautiful little village. The perfect location for a quiet afternoon of walking and exploring.
This beautiful little castle is the Chateau Aigle. I first saw it from the train window on my way to Les Diablarets. You catch the train to Les Diablarets at the small station in Aigle. The villiage did not look very impressive when I arrived at the station. But when the train started moving through the village I began to see the charm of the area and knew I had to take an afternoon away from Les Diablarets to explore this little village.
