Geneva Tip
by NineMiles
The train ride around Lake Geneva was the highlight of our trip. The sunset was magical as it illuminated the Swiss Alps and reflected on the lake. I'm fairly upset that I wasn't able to take a photo of this prized vision, but a picture wouldn't have come close to communicating how awesome that sunset was.
The picture above is of a museum on the UN complex. During our visit, they were hosting a ceramics show. Doesn't sound too thrilling, but we actually enjoyed seeing different pieces from a variety of cultures.

The Salon International de l'Auto (or Geneva Motor Show) is an annual auto show held in March in the Swiss city of Geneva. The show started in 1905 and is now the only annual automobile show in Europe. The show is held at Palexpo, a giant convention center. The Salon is scheduled by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, which considers it a major international auto show.
Almost all motor combustion models have been featured in the show. Models ranging from benzene to steam, with many exotic and supercars stealing the spotlights throughout the 20th century. Prototypes, new equipment, technical breakthroughs, and international partnerships as well as political and social debates are all landmarks of this international exhibition.

The Parc des Eaux-Vives is a smaller neighbor of the Parc de la Grange on the south shore of Lake Geneva.
The building up on the hill is a fancy French restaurant which seems to be very well known among people who are interested in that sort of thing.
For the rest of us, the park is the site of a summer music venue called "Scene Ella Fitzgerald" which specializes in free concerts of "Musiques Colorées" -- flamenco, rap, jazz, pop, funk, reggae, chanson and world folk music -- on summer evenings in July and August.

Don't miss Carouge, a neighborhood that previously belonged to Sardinia. The architecture is very different, and it's a nice place to walk around if the weather is fine. At night, go to the Chat noir, a bar with live music located at rue Vautier 13.

Bar, night club, the meeting spot for young people (average usually 25-35(.
Check program on the web. It can get pretty crowded, especiallly after midnight.
Carouge also has many good restaurants and bistrots. Casual.
