We stayed in a private bunk bed room with shared bathroom facilities for two nights before heading to Chamonix.
City Hostel is a large hostel with a kitchen on every floor and plenty of common room space. We found the hostel to be clean, quiet and the service of the staff very good. Our room had safe, a basin which was very handy, cupboard space and one bunk. Shared bathroom was clean and never really busy. The kitchen proved to be very handy. For a small deposit you had your own locked cupboard and compartment in the fridge. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen, saving a bit of money. There are also day lockers in the basement for free use, bring your own lock.
The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the central train station, 5 minute walk from the train station and restaurants. It’s in a fairly safe area although next time we will stay on the other side in the Old town part of Geneva.

Despite it being almost the only option in Geneva it is actually quite good. The rooms are clean and nice. There are quite a few different kitchens around the place so making your own food is quite easy. There are also numerous good showers and toilets. On the entrance floor there is a common area with a different movie shown every night. Downstairs there is another common room with sofas, satelite tv, internet and a fussball table. There are also laundry facilities in the basement.

Stayed here in November 2005 for one night. Central location near main train station. Very clean and the shower was fantastic after a night on the booze.
Highly recommended and cheap. Deinitely stay here again if I come back.

Unique Quality: 5 mins from the railway station, central location, free kitchen facilities, 5 internet stations, tv room, book exchange, no curfew or lock out. This is me, all covered up. My friends thought I was silly because i sleep with my head under the covers, but my nose gets cold. O well

I have stayed at the City hostel for a couple of weeks when i arrived here..... It is very clean and at a reasonable price(By geneva standards)
Unique Quality: Very close to the railway station.

This place is simply a hotel which 3 beds in a room.. but that means that although it looses the 'friendly, home' feeling. it is clean, smart and .. lovely showers. Cost 27.50 Francs a night

Unique Quality: Very clean and safe (doors that lock behind you when you leave, therefore requiring a key each time you enter), television in the main room with a ton of chairs and tables, pop and beer vending machine, internet access (fairly reasonable), small used book library, lockers available, and a small souvenir gift shop in the office. I think there is a lockout in the afternoon, but it is not too much of a pain.

This new hotel for young people with a small budget has just opened five minutes on foot from the Cornavin station. The establishment offers 54 rooms, from a single for Sfr. 50.- to a dormitory with 4 beds at Sfr. 24.- per person. All the rooms are equipped with a wash basin, toilet, shower and a kitchen on the landing. There is an attractive rate for two nights in a double room with TV, a pizza in a nearby Italian restaurant and free admission to the International Red Cross Museum for Sfr. 95.-. Gabriela and Andreas Keppeler, who head the establishment, will warmly welcome you and make a number of suggestions on how to discover Geneva.

Everything in Switzerland is more expensive but this place is not too bad.
4-bed dorm -Sfr 24
double room -Sfr 70 City hostel has a great location right near the train station and the rooms and showers are clean, albeit the rooms are a bit small. There were a lot of people there even in winter so its a great place for single travelers to try and meet new mates. They also throw in a 50% discount to the Red Cross Museum which is nice. NO CURFEW!
I am looking for a hotel in Geneva, that would be clean and cozy and not expensive. the ideal would be somewhere next to the train station. Please recommend.
it will be difficult to get an inexpensive cosy place near the train station.do try ramada hotel which is a bit away from the main city,but there is a free bus service from just outside the hotel and we found it very convinient.

close the main station, Gare Cornavin, 5 minutes walk, there is a very nice and clean hostel: the "City Hostel Geneva". Sleeping rooms are comfortable, bathrooms and kitchen very clean. I think it's the most economical solution for staying in the center of Geneva.
