Geneva, the city of my studies
by Tripack
My dilemma during all my studies at the Geneva's University...
Heureux l'étudiant qui, comme la rivière, peut suivre son cours sans quitter son lit.
Let's try in english:
Happy the student who like the river wants to complete his course without leaving his bed.
Does it make sense also in English???

Visit CERN.
European Organization for Nuclear Research.
CERN is the world's largest particle physics centre. Founded in 1954, the laboratory was one of Europe's first joint ventures, and has become a shining example of international collaboration. From the original 12 signatories of the CERN convention, membership has grown to the present 20 Member States.
WHERE THE WEB WAS BORN:
In late 1990, Tim Berners-Lee, a CERN computer scientist invented the World Wide Web (that you are currently using). The 'Web' as it is affectionately called, was originally conceived and developed for the large high-energy physics collaborations which have a demand for instantaneous information sharing between physicists working in different universities and institutes all over the world. Now it has millions of academic and commercial users.
Tim together with Robert Cailliau wrote the first WWW client (a browser-editor running under NeXTStep) and the first WWW server along with most of the communications software, defining URLs, HTTP and HTML. In December 1993 WWW received the IMA award and in 1995 Tim and Robert shared the Association for Computing (ACM) Software System Award for developing the World-Wide Web with M.Andreesen and E.Bina of NCSA.

Carouge, once a seperate city is now a part of Geneva's urban area. Charming streets lined with three-story buildings house boutiques where one can find the latest in creative fashion, jewelery, furniture, and decorations. Zabo Chapeaux is a must for those searching for hats with imagination and quality. 31, rue St.-Joseph, Carouge tel:(022)301 7576
Stained Glam
by thesaint about Platinum Glam Club
After having had a dinner or a drink at the nearby Hora Fugit, enter the most hip club of Geneva, the Platinum.
Known from Eastern-European and Middle-Eastern crowds, this club is probably the most exclusive in Geneva, even if it's open for everybody.
The atmosphere is really hip but sometimes a little too harsh, as it is often the case when too much money and alcohol mix. Dress classy. Security is not easy at all.
