Accommodations in Geneva

by jburks1

I'll be spending one night in Geneva this June, does anyone recommend a good (not overpriced) place to stay. Thanks

Re: Accommodations in Geneva

No personal recommendation, but I do suggest (whilst you are waiting for some) that you look at www.booking.com and www.venere.com, both of which are reliable sites, used by many VT-ers, with honest guest reviews (you can't review until you have completed your booking).

The last time we made a trip to Geneva with the group from transfer smart last August this year, we spend for two nights at Les Amores it was located in the center of the old town, it was a first class hotel. And the price is very affordable.

The whole city is very pretty, stroll around the Geneva lake and enjoy the swans. The people were very interesting and I was specially impressed how clean the city was. The mountains on the horizon are stunning!

For sciences amateur...

by Tripack

CERN is where the web is born. In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee, a scientist at CERN, invented the World Wide Web (that you are currently using!). The Web, as it is affectionately called, was originally conceived and developed to meet the demand for automatic information sharing between scientists working in different universities and institutes all over the world.

You could visit the world's largest particle physics laboratory. A visit lasts approximately half a day. It consists of an introduction to CERN presented by one of our guides, followed by a film projection and a visit to one of the experimental areas and/or to an accelerator on the surface.

The CERN Visits Service organises guided tours free of charge, in several languages, from Monday to Saturday, at 9:00 or at 14:00. Reservation is obligatory.

Access: CERN main site is close to Geneva airport on the Meyrin Road.
From Cornavin railway station take bus direction CERN unti CERN stop (about 40 minutes).

Home made beer...

by Tripack about Les Brasseurs

Good atmosphere, good homemade lager/blond/brown beers, so good night in prospect...

The home-made beer master offers:
- The pure malt blond with a touch of hop, very delicate
- The wheat and barley white with thick yeast and head
- The double malt amber well roasted, the favourite beer of the ladies
- The special, also brewed at the pub it varies according to the season

Try a 3 or 5 liters beer's column!!! Very friendly if you're a group.

Posibility to eat light meal as Flammekueche, Sauerkraut, Flemish carbonados and other natural pub and seasonal dishes are on offer.

Open everyday from Monday to Wednesday from 11AM to 1AM, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11AM to 2AM and Sunday from 3PM to 1 AM.
