Hi everybody, it seems that this is a very knowledgeable forum, from what I've read. Ok, so I hope somebody can advise me on this matter: I'm flying to GVA on Sept 5, arriving at 7.45, and I'm supposed to be in Tournon (FRance, close to Albertville) before 14:00 for my friend's wedding...I was wondering if somebody could tell me the best/fastest way to get there from the airport.
Then, on Sunday 6, I have to go back tothe GVA airport to catch an flight to Berlin.
I appreciate your help.

will give you public transport options from the airport..it is very near Geneva city centre.
I am stuggling to find Geneva>Tournon bus/train info, but will keep looking. You may need to take a taxi (or hire a car). It's about an hour and a quarter from the city centre (131km www.viamichelin.com).
You can get a train from Geneva to Albertville at 10:17, arriving 12:49 (with one change):

Tournon is a ten-minute drive from Albertville, obviously much cheaper than hiring a car or taxi from Geneva.
I'd take the train, then get a taxi..you should be there in time for the start of the wedding, with time for a coffee/breakfast at the station in Geneva as well
Check the timetables for your return trip...train times are often different on Sundays.
Closed railway stations appear to be Frontenex and Albertville. Both are served by frequent trains from Geneve.
For example: Leave airport 10:01, arrive Frontenex 12:41. (and Albertville a bit after that). So it is doable. Tickets you just buy at the airport.
See www.sbb.ch for times. Price for Geneve - Frontenx is 19.70 one way. To get from the airport to the main station just get yourself a free "unireso" ticket from the machine in the bagage claim area.

You should know a bit of French. I freshly learned French basic course so it was very interesting to improve my language with french speaking people.
I was there on 22nd December and Xmas was after few days. All the children were lined up to have a picture with the 'Santa' so i also wanted to have one because the child inside me prompted me to ask for it ;-) & Indeed i was the smallest one of all (Gave a bit of a surperise to Santa when to i walked to him and asked for a pic with him :>) heheehee....
For those who travel by train, there's a public shower at the Geneva Train station. Don't take too long though. The water shuts off after 1/2 hour or so. Well, things might have changed. I'm talking about 1989.
Here's another pic of these amazing houses. It looks like blobs of plasticine have been thrown together to create them! Look carefully and seee the waxky designs like the giant mushrooms holding up balconies cobweb railings, whimsical spiral staircases and twisted-liquorice columns, everything in a riot of primary colours. Of course the residents, known now as Smurfs love their unusual homes!
Le Baroque is an elegant and expensive cafe/restaurant. You can come here to eat, to have tea, or to have drinks late at night. It tends to be frequented by the beautiful and gorgeous of Geneva, and the luxurious decor is worth the visit.
It now also has a part called the B Club right next door, which is just as elegant, baroque, beautiful and of course expensive. Dress nice to feel and look beautiful
