Located on the northern bank of Lac de Genève, Hotel d'Angleterre is one of the city's exclusive historic hotels, belonging to "The Leading Small Hotels of the World". It was built in 1872 and has since maintained its old world feel and exceptional service, albeit modernised through recent renovations. The interior and all of its 45 rooms are decorated with beautiful antiques. I stayed here in August 2005 and again in September 2012 while in Geneva on business. Both stays were most pleasant of course, but in 2005, my room was quite small, only a touch larger than the bed itself! In September 2012, I was given a very spacious room with a view over Lake Geneva. The price of this hotel is steep of course (though less than the Four Seasons or the Mandarin Oriental), but is well worth it particularly if you have an expense account!
