The beautiful laketown Geneva
by nyperose
Hi,
As Geneva is a pretty small and compact town, in 2 days you'll be able to see the essential. I think one of the best ways is to buy a map and walk around the centre. The water front is lovely, and you can walk from the Mon Repos park towards the bridge (Pont du Mont-Blanc)in direction of Park de la Grange. During your walk you'll se France and the Alps. Another advice is to take a boat trip and see Geneva from the Lake, or you can take the cable car up to Mont Salève (1100 m) for a splendid view.
If you want to get out and have a look at the surroundings, I can suggest the
beautiful little medieval town of Nyon, only about 15 minutes by train from Geneva railway station.
Have a nice stay!

Summer - one long festival
by oisha
Summer here is so short that dozens of festivals are organised end to end so it's like one long party from June to August. The lakeshore is abuzz almost every evening and there is always something to do outdoors. There is outdoor cinema, fairgrounds, concerts, fireworks displays, and just plain revelry. If you're out with your kids at dusk, put name tags and beepers on them so you can find them in the crowd!
Concerts and operas are also...

Concerts and operas are also given at the Batiment des Forces Motrices, formerly Geneva’s water works and the source of the original jet d’eau. This original site was refitted as a theatre during a major renovation of the Grand Theatre a few years ago and it’s location in the middle of the Rhône is certainly striking.
Geneva's Countryside
by genevadavid
Although Geneva is a "city canton", it has a wonderful countryside that is easily reached by public transport. Moreover, there is an extensive and well-posted network of footpaths that lead through fields, vineyards and woods. Yellow signs indicate footpaths, red ones are for cyclists. Just about every village has a bistro or auberge and therefore a chance to stop for a drink or a meal.
This photo of the Geneva countryside with Mont Blanc in the distance was taken from the G Bus, less than 20 minutes from the centre of Geneva.
