Venice to Interlaken via Geneva/Basel/Chiasso.
by jkbansal
We are a family of 4 and I was planning on reserving/purchasing train tickets from Venice to Interlaken via Geneva/Basel/Chiasso. Under Trenitalia's site, is it best to do ticketless travel and pickup at self-service kiosk or have email confirmation sent?
Can somebody suggest cheapest way to reach Interlaken from Venice?

by Ritchie_Lionheart
The same applies as for Interlaken: best to go by train via Milano Centrale and Domodossola (border)...straight to Geneva. There are frequent trains, and usually no need to book in advance. For schedules, check
www.cff.ch
Trains in Switzerland are fast and efficient, but considerably more expensive than in Italy. So studay the different types of rail passes and fare reductions available, some already explained in previous Switzerland Forum cointributions (1-2 days ago).
Travel Tips for Geneva
BREAD..........
by eden_teuling
Here a photo of the shop window of a bakery and believe me in Switzerland it is a real joy just to buy BREAD: the variety, models, colours and tastes will surprise you!
It is a good habit to have some bread with each )hot) meal and...who would be able to enjoy e.f. RACLETTE (a Swiss speciality) without fresh bread?
Of course it is best to buy at a bakery: fresh bread is so much more tasty and fresh than the bread from Supermarkets....
You will find bakeries all over the place.......and when you don't master German or French....don't fear: they can help you in English! Walking LE PONT DE MONT-BLANC.......watching the birds and the boats and the wide, wide water........
Keep Switzerland Tidy!
by Durfun
This country sets the global standards around.... so anything out of place would look out of place!
It is very clean, so keep it that way; in fact you will automatically feel inspired to do so.
Geneva is so pretty that you cannot possibly soil it !
Calvin Auditory
by sandysmith
People crowded into this little chapel in the 16th century, in the heart of the city near St Pierre Cathedral. Many peeople came here to pray and to follow the teachings of the great names of the Reformation - Calvin and Theodore de Beze. Here John Knox (exiled from Scotland under the regime of Mary Tudor) exercised his influence on the English speaking community. Here also Miles Coverdale directed the preparation of the first bible in English , known as the 'Geneva Bible'.P
Chill out in Torgon
by vpas
If you are the type who just wants to unwind and relax in a beautiful setting, then Torgon is the place for you.It can be reached from Geneva(you have to take a train and then a bus). This place is secluded and far from the maddening crowd. The village has delicious baked items and fantastic cheese. There are many farms, with cows(with the trade mark bells around their necks)and sheep. It is a beautiful place for long walks.I truly enjoyed this place more than the cities. You could make trips to Montreaux,Le bouveret or Geneva from here.
Dance 'Til You Drop
by thesaint about Bypass, Attitude de Nuit
After opening as one of the most trendiest clubs in Geneva, things have settled down a bit for the Bypass.
The crowd is now more mixed, helping for a different atmosphere, more relaxed maybe.
The choice of DJs is often tasty and you will probably end up dancing very late.
Prefer Fridays and Saturdays over Thursdays as this very big club can feel empty if not packed. Fashion. Be nice with the security guys.
