According to this article, Freddie owned an apartment in LES TOURELLES at TERRITET , Montreux.

If you open Google Maps and insert this address in the search it is probably the location.
les Tourelles, Montreux, Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland

Travel Tips for Montreux

Montreux Lakeside

by sue_stone

While in Montreux, take some time to stroll along the lakeside promenade. During our visit to Montreux the annual Jazz Festival was on and the lakeside was lined with stalls selling arts and crafts, jewellery, food and various other paraphernalia.

Near the Place du Marche we saw some fabulous photos of musicians that had preformed at the Jazz Festival over the years, and nearby were some of those fun fountains that have spouts of water shooting up from the pavement. Right by the lake you will see the monument to Freddie Mercury. This statue was erected in 1996, and since 2003 there has been a "Freddie Mercury Montreux Memorial Day" when fans from around the world gather here to pay their respects to the great performer.

Chillon, a Romantic Myth (I&V)

by Zvrlj

"Francois Bonivard was a celebrated prisoner of Chillon. He spent part of his detention in Chillon underground prison, living in the semi-darkness with his imagination as his sole distraction. Prior of Saint-Victor in Geneva, Bonivard was a partisan from the City of Calvin during the struggles against Duke of Savoy. He was arrested by the Savoyard army in 1530 and imprisoned at Chillon. He lay there for six years until he was liberated by the Bernese in 1536. Confined in the 'underground room' and deprived of enjoying the landscape, the captive could only perceive the waves and the reflection of the light on the lake. In the Chronicles of Geneva, which he drew up after his liberation he wrote: 'They threw me into a cellar whose floor was lower than the lake above which Chillon was situated'. Chained to the fifth pillar of the basement, without being able to approach the narrow openings onto the lake, the prisoner imagined with terror that he was being detained beneath the level of the lake.

Bonivard was made famous in the 19th century by George Gordon Byron who transformed the personage into a veritable myth by his famous poem Prisoner of Chillon. He even went as far as to engrave his name on a column to which he believed Bonivard had been chained. For Byron, as for other artists Chilon was an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Alphonse Lamartine, Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas have all extolled the castle, leading in their steps countless admirers of literature relating to contrasted landscapes and ancient stones. Situated at the crossroads between the picturesque (the indented silhouette of the mountains and castle towers), and the exalted (the storms, prisoners and executions), the decor of the castle fitted perfectly within the Romantic conception of beauty […]"*

Chateau Blonay

by Banty

Blonay is a nice small village near Montreux with a private (!) castle.

You cannot visit it nor will you get far to it if you try to drive to it from the north.

If you want to get nearer to it you should go by train and exit the train on the station "Blonay - Chateau" or you can go there by car, leave your car on the parking between the central roundabout and the main station and walk to the other station. It is nearby.

When you arrived at the station you will find a very nice place to enjoy and you will have a very decent view to the castle.

When you are there you can walk to it up the small mountain but again you cannot visit it.

Montreux provides a sceneric walks along the Lake of Geneva. This lake side also shows only the best nature view,it has also a "thematic" exhibiton;) Like when I was there,I saw the main "characters" from the movie Ice Age standing along the lake side.I think it's fun!
