Montreux Palace - One of the best views...
This historic landmark hotel is definitely the place to stay in Montreux. It is now managed by the Fairmont luxury hotel chain and naturally offers top amenities and service. However, I found the hotel to be too large to offer personable service, but I stayed here on business so I cannot complain. I was upgraded to a suite with one of the best views on this planet, overlooking le Lac de Genève and the majestic Alps beyond (see attached photos).

Excellent Hotel with Fantastic Views
This hotel is in our top two best hotels we have ever stayed in, the first being The Datai in Langkawi, Malaysia. We stayed in a "Deluxe Lake View" room which was on the south-east corner of the 5th or 6th floor so we actually had two balconies: the big one along the front overlooking the lawn out front (across the road), the lake, and the mountains across; and the smaller side balcony where we could look back up the nearest mountain. The room was gigantic with high quality furnishings, unique decor, a large flat screen TV, another in the bathroom, and an excellent bed.
We had a problem the last morning. They experienced a water boiler problem which meant we had cold water showers that morning. Upon complaining about it, we received a mere 15% discount off the last night's rate.
That aside, we would definitely stay there again. We had one of the best meals of our lives in La Brasserie du Palace dining room - excellent food, excellent service. The concierge, of course, was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Unique Quality:
A Belle Epoque gem built in 1906, with an atmosphere that combines tradition and elegance. This 5 star hotel belonging to the Raffles group.
