What a memorable day to spend Swiss National Day 2007!!!
The sun was blazing down, the sky a perfect blue and behind the longest glacier in the Alps - the Aletsch Glacier. Such amazing views we had on this sea of ice as we made a day long hike around the Eggishorn and Bettmerhorn just above our base in Fiesch
This memorable hike makes a circuit of the Eggishorn, traversing along the slope above the immense glacier, before looping back to take in Southward-looking vistas of the Monte Rosa range and the Matterhorn. Its described as relatively flat ...but there is some climbing involved and then a descent down when the legs are most tired....but the views we had in the clear weather were fabulous.
To top it off a street festival followed by a great firework display we could view from our hotel room balcony.
