    This cozy hotel is located down the street from the Papperla Pub. The view from my room overlooked the church and the village below every morning I woke to hear the church bell ring and the horses clomp down the street below.

    This hotel has a wonderful restaurant, a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, gym and massage services available. The ski room is well equipped with electric boot dryers for overnight storage. The room I stayed in was at the front end of the hotel (a corner suite) it was warm and cozy with a beautiful bathroom that had heated floor tiles as well as a heated towel bar it was quite a room filled with character and comfort.

    THIS IS A BEST WESTERN HOTEL SO IF YOU QUALIFY FOR DISCOUNTS YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GET THEM HERE. VERY QUIET OFF THE MAIN STREET AT THE END OF SIDESTREET. THIS IS A 3 STAR AND VERY CLEAN AND HELPFUL. THE STAFF WAS EXCEPTIONAL.

    POOL FACILITIES AT THE ADJACENT HOTEL. 2 MINUTES WALK TO THE TRAIN STATION. BREAKFAST SERVED IN A WOOD PANELED LARGE DINING AREA, OF COURSE WITH LOTS OF FLOWERE.

    Built between 1897 - 1907, the Gornergrat Kulm Hotel is the highest in the Alps (3130m, on the top of Mount Gornergrat). You can reach the hotel in a 40 min. train ride by the famous Gornergrat mountain railway from Zermatt. The last train leaves Zermatt daily at 6:00 p.m.

    Two-star hotel, 21 rooms, 43 beds, unique location, breathtaking panorama (29 peaks over 4000m, including Matterhorn), pure mountain air, deep hospitality, multiple ski facilities, astronomic observatory.

    The Grand Hotel Zermatterhof offers 86 renovated rooms with 148 beds including 25 suites / junior suites.

    All rooms are equipped with direct-dial telephone, radio, cable television, minibar and video on request; some suites have their own fireplace and jacuzzi bath. A large number of rooms have a balcony and face the spectacular Matterhorn.

    Testa Grigia is a lovely hotel, well-situated (on the main street, in the heart of the village), cheap (taking into account the usual rates in Switzerland) and providing a charming atmosphere. All the receptionists are poliglots.

    Excellent position, TV, minibar, phone, recent renovated rooms, buffet breakfast.

    I stayed two nights at this place. Althougt it was suppose to be a 4* hotel, I was very disappointed by the quality of the service and the room. The staff were not so helpful and showed a lack of professionnalism. My room had a ridiculous tiny TV and no cable... The bathroom was out-of-date (I presume no renovation made since ages...). The dinner and the home-made wine were poor.

    For all these reasons I could only recommend you to choose another address to enjoy your Zermatt stay. Just look to my tips above.

    Small and friendly UK travel company management run hotel. Not a typically swiss hotel but it was centrally located in the village, nice rooms and bathrooms. Great chef in the hotel too - meals were lovely each evening.

    Roof top terrace - for views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks.

    The most expensive place to stay in Zermatt I should imagine...5 star hotel.
    Posh doormen and those fancy horse and carriages to bring you from the station to the hotel.

    Expensive - i can remember it being clean but we had to sleep in dorms with mixed gender - so us 3 girls werent too impressed with having to share with guys in a room with something like 5 bunks or so ie 10 people packed into a fairly small dorm room
    - but anyway... it was the cheapest we could get and it enabled us to stay up at Zermatt! -

    and the next day we had the most amazing view of the Matterhorn!!

    It was simply a place to stay that was clean and enabled us to stay in Zermatt - and to see the Matterhorn if the weather was okay - and it was perfect.
    The woman who ran the hostel was very pleasant.

    Last week, I decided to go to Zermatt in last minute. So about 4 days before when the weather forecast was good for a sunny skiing week-end, I needed an accomodation at reasonnable price. I find this 3 stars hotel on the swiss budget hotel website: www.rooms.ch. I must admit it was a good value: I get a double room with balcony view on the Matterhorn (see picture 4), with shower and WC, a small lounge with sofa, TV with 58 channels for CHF 140 the night.

    The Primavera hotel is manage by the family Imboden, staff was very friendly and helpful. When I arrived in Zermatt railway station, I gave a (free) quick call from the hotel information board just on your left when leaving the platform. 5 minutes the Primavera courtesy bus was taking me to the hotel (5min by bus or 15 min on foot). I just drop my luggage to the reception and directly head to the Alpine metro station Sunnegga which was only 300 meters far away from the hotel (5min on foot) very convenient. Otherwise you could take the bus at Wiesti Brucke to Matterhorn Express cable car station.

    After a good skiing day, I enjoy the steam bath and a jakuzzi session to relax at the hotel. You could also surf for free on the computer in the lobby or use the WIFI network with your own laptop.

    The room was spacious and the bed confortable for a short sleep (see my nightlife tips to understand why short ;-).

    Breakfast buffet was large enough to feed me for another skiing day.

    A recommend hotel for its good value.
