Take the Gornergratbahn to the Gornergrat, excellent hotel and patio, world's highest shopping mall (5 shops)

A cheap hotel at Tasch, outside Zermatt. 1 night reservations are hard to get in Zermatt during the ski season.

The Matterhorn, the Gornergrat hotel tower and the signs showing the mountains visible from the top.

"Take every chance to get that special photo."

Maybe all are part of a tour that allows 30 minutes only at the top of the mountain. Rush. Rush. Rush.

"At this elevation the views are long range."

On a clear day you can see forever, well almost.

"More views to the North at higher elavations."

Mountains close to 4000m.

"Watch out for pedestrians."

This biker was the first of several who seemed to rush past, not seeing the beauty of the area. To each his own.

"A natural occurence in the area."

No sign that a storm was possible, just a natural build up during the hotter part of the day. It was now about 2.00pm.

"Did it fall or was it pushed."

Another possibility is that the glaciers were much bigger and deeper and could have brought this rock down from another place.

Or is it igneaous, from some volcanic system many years ago.

.Just across from the Gornergrat station it is possible to see the river of ice in the valleys. A jumble of ice and snow, full of crevassesand I am sure ice that is pushed up and falls over amid a loud crash, but hardle seen or heard from across the gap.
