Swiss beer: Walliser Bier
by HORSCHECK
A local beer brand in the Canton du Valais is the Walliser Bier (German name) or Biere Valaisanne (French name).
The brewery was founded in 1865 in Sion. In 1972 it was acquired by the Feldschlösschen brewery which is Switzerland's largest brewery.
Popular beer types include their lager and the "Blonde 25" which is a fashionable light beer. It was launched in 1992 and became a huge success among young people.

Grächen
by robertgaz
Grächen is a small alpine along the only road in the valley leading to Zermatt. It's a cute quaint litle place with traditional wooden chalets.
There is accommodation available in Grächen if you need to break your trip to Zermatt.
Glacier Express
by sandysmith
Whichever direction you take to get to Zermatt the last leg will be by Glacier Express train from Brig or Visp - a lesiurely scenic one and a half hours train journey passing bridges, waterfalls and glacier and eventually the Matterhorn looms into sight. The glacier express proper has wide panorama windows for the scenery. Reservations are essential if you want this service. However ordinary trains also serve the Zermatt valley, are often less crowded and you can pull the window down for taking those pics!
Just right for a light lunch......
by Maryimelda about Dariolis Tea Room
This is just a lovely little cafe where you can get a light lunch at a good price and then get back to the serious business of seeing the sights. The service is friendly, efficient and no nonsense. Added bonus of a lovely clean toilet. There seemed to be a lovely menu of sandwiches, salads, cakes and pastries and every sort of coffee. I had Quiche and salad and a Cappuccino for 12CHF. Bottom line....excellent for the money.
Walk to Z'mutt
by travelfrosch
This is a pleasant walk to get your hiking juices flowing, especially if you arrived in the afternoon and want to enjoy a couple of hours on the trails. Walk towards the Matterhorn and follow the signs to small hamlet of Z'mutt. Walking time is 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your level of fitness and how often you stop to take pictures. (Note: If you're not used to hiking, or if you aren't used to the altitude yet, there are some moderately steep uphill climbs. Don't be ashamed to turn back.)
Z'mutt itself is just a collection of farmhouses, really. There are two restaurants that open sporadically for lunch and/or dinner, and I think there are a few basic rooms available for tourists during the summer. In this case, one can say that it is about the trip, not the destination.
