We are going to Zermatt on holiday for the first time and was wondering if there are shops that you can buy

Any Coop or Migros supermarket will have what you need, although not necessarily the same brands you have at home. Swiss people have babies too, you know :-)
Isn't it illegal to buy babies? ;) Just kidding...yes the Coop or ordinary supermarkets will have everything you need.
Well, the Migros supermarket in Zermatt is rather small. If there is anything you don't find in there then you may have to use the pharmacy. If you can stop in Brig or Visp on the way up to Zermatt you may want to consider doing a bulk shopping there in Migros or Coop because the supermarkets there are simply much bigger.

On some of the hikes that I did I came across shepards or farmers I don't know what they call themselves in this area but they were a very friendly people! I would just greet them and move on. I didn't want to bother them with a photo but I took a picture of the animals.
Summer ski-ing is possible up on the Kleine Matterhorn area. Bear in mind to get an early start though as it takes a while to get to the top and also the ski-ing is only possible until mid afternoon due to the sun making the snow too slushy.
The Leisee was a short detour UP off the path from the Grindjisee to Findeln. You could easily reach the Sunnegga funicular in a few minutes from here and ride the easy way back down to Zermatt. This pic in July is so different from the view we had in August of the preceding year. What a difference the weather can make!
So Zermatt is not quite as traffic-free as you would think. (Wengen is more so)
An electronic e-bus is available betwwen the station and the Kleine Matterhorn cable-car station and the Gornegrat mountain railway station (just across the road from the Bahnhof).
Several buses are in circulation but I liked this cheese one the best!
Not sure if its a free bus servive or if you need a hotel pass but iIts only about a 15 minute walk between the two stations which are suituated either end of Zermatt's main road.
Zermatt has a casino.... still.... but there are some rumours that it might closes, because of a lack of tourists gambling.
Anyway, it's a nice buildig, whatever is going to be in there in the future and worth to see.
