Hotel La Couronne - amazing Matterhorn views
When we planned to spend 3 nights in Zermatt on our July 2008 trip I decided that the one thing I really wanted was a hotel room with a view of the Matterhorn. So when I managed to book the last two free rooms at Hotel La Couronne I was very happy. This hotel reportedly had great views of the Matterhorn and it was in a good location as well.
La Couronne turned out to be as good as I had hoped. Located just down the hill from the main square, it was a short walk from everything. Staff were very friendly and our rooms were clean and well appointed. We had a single room (from my mother-in-law) and a double room - though the double room was actually a Junior Suite and had a separate living area.
Unique Quality: The best thing about our room was that it had a balcony and amazing views of the Matterhorn. Each evening we would have pre-dinner drinks on our balcony and gaze up at the mountain as the light changed.
The room also had a large, modern bathroom, a TV, small fridge, a large bed, and plenty of cupboard/storage space. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was buffet style, with a good selection of choices including some hot food. I would certainly stay at Hotel La Couronne again.
