Loved it....
I chose this hotel for no other reason than the price (80CHF for a single) per night including buffet breakfast. I really wasn't expecting much but apart from being up a steep hill, it is an excellent 3 star hotel. The bedroom was not too big, but not too small either. There was a shiny bright good sized bathroom. It was all well appointed. If I really wanted to be picky, I would say that the bathroom door is a tiny bit of a problem. It is made of very thick, heavy glass and I found it a little difficult pushing it open all the time. It couldn't be left open as it just closed automatically and it was certainly way too heavy to prop open. Still if that's all there is to complain about, I consider myself pretty lucky to have found Le Petit.
Unique Quality: The staff, especially the desk clerk were all very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for the young man who seemed to be on duty more than anybody else. He always made time to talk and give me directions and jolly good advice.
On the top of the hotel, there is a viewing deck where you can sit on a sun lounge and watch the Matterhorn. I felt this was an excellent plus for such a small hotel.

Le Petit Rooftop Terrace
Unique Quality: The hotel had a rooftop terrace - great suntrap and you could orientate yourself with the mountains and gondola stations.
It also made for a fun snowball fight when we had the snow...and the view of the snowy trees and roofs of Zermatt was quite picturesque.

Our Base in Zermatt
Small and friendly UK travel company management run hotel. Not a typically swiss hotel but it was centrally located in the village, nice rooms and bathrooms. Great chef in the hotel too - meals were lovely each evening.
Unique Quality: Roof top terrace - for views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks.
