Hotel Diana

We had a room almost at the top cant remember which floor but with a balcony and view of the lake. The breakfast buffet offered a huge choice catering to everyones taste.
Because it was conveniently located, it was within walking distance of the lake and shopping area. Lots to do in this area

Unique Quality: Conveniently situated near to the cablecar going up to the Monte Bre. Although near to the lake, fairly quiet and from the balcony you have a good view of the lake.

Hotel Villa Marita: With differences between people and more - bad!

This hotel was my worst experience with any hotel or accomodation.

At first: we were no private guests, booked by travel agency. So I guess we had to pay another (low) prize for rooms.
We got (and had to change our seats, indeed) the places in the hot sun at morning. Without any sunshade. Thus the butter melted away almost every day in the sun. ;)

Second: The use of the swimming pool had to be announced on time. Then anyhow it was also a little bit defective. So swimming in the hotel pool was not possible, in any case, all the time. And it was hot!
Third: Rooms were spartanic.

When they noted that I am a lawyer, there was at least more friendliness.
Frightfully, absolute warning!

Hotel Panorama: A Two Star Jewel

I had to create a Lago Maggiore location on my VT maps because Gerre-Gambarogno doesn't appear as a destination. This tiny town and train stop on the east side of Lago Maggiore is noteworthy. Although most tourists stay on the other side of the lake at Locarno or Ascona, where there are many hotels and restaurants and tourist activities, the views on this side of the lake are sublime.

Hotel Panorama is a wonderful little family run hotel with all the comforts of home and views that never end. We spent two nights here during a heat wave and our terrace rooms were perfect. We elected half board and took our evening meals on the terrace outside, overlooking the lake. The food was very good. Breakfasts were included as well and the buffet was plentiful and good.

Unique Quality: I loved my room at the Panorama. Traveling with my dear friend Judi, we each had a balcony room over looking the lake. In the evening we sat on our respective balconies with a glass of wine and visited while we watched the lights go on in Ascona. The changing colors of the mountains on the west side of the lake was better than any movie.

I left my french doors open all night and didn't want to close my eyes because I didn't want to stop watching those twinkling lights, the moon and the stars!
