More about Hotel Villa Marita

With differences between people and more - bad!

by elgin99 about Hotel Villa Marita

This hotel was my worst experience with any hotel or accomodation.

At first: we were no private guests, booked by travel agency. So I guess we had to pay another (low) prize for rooms.
We got (and had to change our seats, indeed) the places in the hot sun at morning. Without any sunshade. Thus the butter melted away almost every day in the sun. ;)

Second: The use of the swimming pool had to be announced on time. Then anyhow it was also a little bit defective. So swimming in the hotel pool was not possible, in any case, all the time. And it was hot!
Third: Rooms were spartanic.

When they noted that I am a lawyer, there was at least more friendliness.
Frightfully, absolute warning!

What's the nearest airport to Lugano.

by nona4

Hello !
If I was to come from London, I know that Swiss Air has a direct flight to Lugano. However, does anyone know any other airline that flies directly to Lugano from London.

Many thanks
Nona

If it is cheaper fly to Milan and take the train. We got there from Geno on the train with a stop in Milan for a few hours. I think it took about 8 hours total and was about four hours from Milan. The ride is well worth the time. Check some of the other major airports and see if they have train service to Lugano.

Travel Tips for Lugano

day trip 1: monte san salvatore

by call_me_rhia

it's not off-the-beaten-path strictly speaking, but it's just off lugano, so i guess it fits the cathegory. From Lugano-Paradiso there's a funicular that rides up to the top of the mountain: if the day's clear you can have wonderful unforgettable views over lugano and the lake lugano area. You can also see the alps in the distance.
Note that the trip there and back costs (year 20029 27 swiss francs. There's a restaurant on top, and some easy and short nature trails

Lugano doesn't offer much of a nightlife. If you are looking for a place to dance, listen to music or just have a drink and chat, no problem, but if you want more you'r better off going to Milan, just 1 hours drive away.
My favored place is the Mango Club, with its hot latin beat, tropical drinks and a great atmosphere.

Sayonara is a restaurant that proposes some traditional dishes from a north italian region(Piemonte),it is a good place.I know a restaurant called sayonara is supposed to cook sushi or sashimi but who knows why the owners wanted this name. they have typical dishes like fritto misto piemontese or bagna cauda, but they also have pasta and pizza.

Parco Civico Villa Ciani

This beautiful park by the lake is well worth a stroll around. In the park is the Cilla Ciani, public toilets, a playground, benches for a rest etc. The park is open from March till October from 6.30 - 23.30 and from November till February from 7-21.
