Best Period is Spring and Summer
by musti72
If you have in mind to come to Lugano you should come during springtime (best from April on) when the flowers are blossoming or during summer when there are several international musical festivals you can enjoy for free.
Lots of detail in this display.

Well from my knowledge of Zuerich, this replica is not the Grossmunster, could it be the Munster from Bern? There are several other buildings represented form that city.
I hope that a Swiss Vter may be able to send me an answer.
day trip 2: melide and bissone
by call_me_rhia
it's a relaxed day trip from Lugano. First you need to catch a train to Melide, about 8 minutes away. Here, if you have children, you can visit the Swissminiatur - it's a park with all the most important swiss buildings and mountains in diminuitive size. Then there's a lovely promenade along the lake, hich will take you to the next village: Bissone, which is an old fishing village. There are lots of olf buildings and tiny narrow lanes and arches - and a small baroque church. There are also several restaurant to have lunch. In the afternoon you can take a boat back to Lugano and enjoy more lake scenery.
swiss trains

Swiss public transports are really excellent in my opinion, may be because I am used to Italy, where, out of the main cities you need a car to do anything, I am sure that can in Switzerland you could survive without a private car.
Cattedrale San Lorenzo
by MalenaN
The cathedral in Lugano is standing above the city centre and from there you have a great view. There has been a church on the same site at least since 818, but it was not until 1888 that the church became a cathedral. San Lorenzo has got a tall bell tower and a renaissance façade from 1517. On the façade you can see a rose window with an image of the Madonna and child. Inside you will see a mix of medieval, baroque and rococo styles and great artwork.
