Wonderful Service

We stayed in Lugano over the 2006/2007 New Year period and travelled by a car service from Milan Linate. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to the room we booked, an executive room. The room was a fair size for a European hotel but we decided with the help of the manager to upgrade to a spacious suite.
Taking into account that car parking and room wireless internet access was included in the new rate the cost of the upgrade was well worthwhile. The room was much larger and tastefully decorated with a wonderful bathroom. We found our European power adaptors did not work in the room sockets, but the hotel reception provided us with adapters which met all our needs.
The location is wonderful; right in the city centre and close to many good restaurants and high quality retail outlets. We rented a car from Hertz and after initial difficulty in locating the only access route to the hotel car park we had no further problems.
The car park was unusual: the car was put away automatically in an impressive "automatic warehouse." As with everything else at this hotel the dedication to providing quick service was exceptional. Public parking in the city is very difficult.
We travelled to Milan one day by train. The funicular outside the hotel takes you direct to the main railway station and is only 1.10 CHF per journey.
The breakfast buffet included in the rate was generous. Other reviews have already included details of the quality.and variety of the food provided.
Reception were helpful throughout providing advice and making bookings for restaurants. We went to the New Year's Eve dinner at the Lugano casino: an experience in itself.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for value and service.

We have been to the Lugano Dante five times already and have never regretted it!
The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the pedestrian zone, just 2 minutes away from all the shops and the lake. The higher category rooms are simply fantastic, you get to choose what type of pillow you would like and the drinks (non alcoholic) from the minibar are for free. Most higher category rooms come with a flat-screen TV and stereo system.
Another reason for us to come back to this hotel is the excellent breakfast buffet, probably the biggest one I have ever seen in a hotel. They make fresh hot-chocolate out of real chocolate! and you have a selection of at least 10 different types of breads, cakes, pastries, meats, cheeses etc.
In our eyes this hotel is not a 4 star hotel, but at least 5 stars and we will most definitely return there.

This hotel is a little gem! Right in the heart of Lugano, we could not have been made to feel more welcome. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great, as you can walk out straight into the city centre piazzas, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. There were no noisy late night bars next to the hotel, and so was fairly peaceful during the night.
We stayed for Easter, and as guests we were given free easter eggs as a gift, and a special easter breakfast was provided. Children were given large chocolate bunnies.
Every evening, there is a happy hour in the hotel bar, where food is also provided (like a small buffet with quiches, sandwiches, crisps and hors d'oeuvres). This is free of charge, and a nice way to start your evening before heading out.
Also, there is a mini bar in your room, and is filled with soft drinks, which are also free of charge! This is great, as you can even take these out with you for during the day while you are sight seeing.
The room was very clean and nicely decorated, and very comfortable.
A great bonus in the centre of Lugano - this hotel has underground parking, where an attendant will park your car for you, and bring it back up when you wish to go out. This removed a lot of hassle, as parking does seem to be an issue in Lugano, and also there is the safety aspect of having your car parked in such a secure way.
Overall, we are so taken with this hotel and Lugano itself that we may make this trip an annual event! One of the best hotels I have stayed in.

The location of this hotel could not have been better for us. It was so easy to get to the train station. The service was excellent. Our room was very clean as well as the bathroom. The rooms are a bit small but we didn't mind at all. The breakfast was the best we had at any hotel in the 15 nights we spent in Switzerland. If you have time we highly recommend the short train ride to Como and taking a boat cruise around the area. We loved our stay in Lugano and would book here again without hesitation!

Loved this hotel. Was there with my fiance earlier this month. The hotel is situated in a pedestrian zone (on a cute piazza), only a short walk from the lake and a ton of restaurants and shopping. The hotel and rooms are great.
We will definitely stay there again.
Best Hotel in Central Lugano

My partner and I (both Mid 40s) stayed for four nights at the Lugano Dante (Jan 2007) having reading about the hotel on Trip Advisor.
We were delighted with our stay. The hotel is central yet quiet.... within moments of the restaurants, bars and shopping of Lugano.
Our room was stylish, comfortable, spotlessly clean and the bathroom was well equipped. The TV had a good selection of channels. Our room heating was easy to control and efficient.
The breakfast buffet was amazing - catering to all tastes from squeeze your own juices and veg to the other end of the scale - mouthwatering buns and Toblerone!
We enjoyed just sitting in the lounge/reception area sipping cocktails and watching the world go by. The hotel represents good value for money and I would stay at the hotel again without hesitation and I would strongly recommend to all.

I booked the room through the hotel's website and chose the cheapest category. It said that it was just the basic overnight stay and breakfast. However, once there, we were told that we would in fact be able to take non-alcoholic drinks from the minbar for free. We were also able to have free tea and cakes from the reception area, so that was a nice surprise.
The room was very nicely furnished, spotlessly clean, with a pleasant bathroom and huge wardrobe.
As so many other have mentioned on these pages, the breakfast has to seen to be believed. Not only the frshly melted Toblerone hot chocolate, but the press-your-own carrot juice, wonderful fresh fruit salad, many different breads and croissants and savoury items.
The staff were most friendly with great attention to detail, especially at breakfast. Before a bowl was even half empty, it was replenished.
The location is first class too. You might not have a view of the lake, but there's no traffic noise unlike many hotels in Lugano and you can be at the lake front in a couple of minutes.

Stayed at the Dante for 1 night on March 4th. and was very impressed. Although the room was on the small side the added touches and the superb location made up for this. From 6pm delicious home made complimentary snacks served in the lobby and when we ordered drinks in the room a complimentary selection was severd alongside. Breakfast was one of the best I have come across in a long time (including 5 star hotels) The range was really superb. We accidentaly left a sum of money in the room after checking out and the cleaning staff left it for us at reception - don't come accross that kind of honesty very often any more. Because of the downtown location the street noise at night can be a problem if you like to sleep with the window open - otherwise I would recommend the hotel highly
