visit the town of Lugano which is a cozy and clean city. There are no gaz deliver on the Italian part of the border : the prices in Switzerland are cheaper. There are no supermarket in the Switzerland part for the same reason. But there is a queue at the border even though there is no real control.
The open air museum shows many true reproductions of places and buildings in Switzerland, so one can get an understanding and a feel for the country without travelling allover the place.
On the other hand it may interest you to go to visit the actual place or building to say that you have ben there.
A breath taking view of the whole Lugano lake, city, neighbor and mountains.
Don't miss the chance to go on top of the Monte San Salvatore by taking the Funicolar.
The funicular is only fivehundred meters from the highway (E-35/A2) exit Lugano-Sud, and five
minutes on foot from the railway station of Paradiso.
Lugano's airport is in Agno. It's an international airport but only planes up to a certain size can land because of the surrounding hills.
You can take the FLP train to Agno and walk for 15 minutes or alternatively take the shuttle bus from Piazza Manzoni or the railway station. For more information check the website below in English.
Parco Civico, or „Parco Ciani“- as it is called by the inhabitants - is supposed to be one of the most beautiful parks in Switzerland.
It is located on the lakeside only two minutes from Central Lugano.
The name of the park goes back to the aristocratic Ciani brothers from Lugano, who bought the estate in 1845 and restored it by planting new, rare plants and trees and who also placed some sculptures of popular artists like Vincenzo Vela.
One of the major attractions of the Ciani park are the flowers whose colours harmonise and blend with the colours of the lake and the surrounding landscape. Every year the flowers and patterns of the flowerbeds are changed to tickle the curiosity of the local inhabitants who witness the changing of the seasons through the changing colours in the park.
There’s still a lot of work to do which should be completed over the next ten years, to make sure that this park will continue to be one of the most admired in Switzerland
