Engelberg vs Lucerne- Which one to stay?

by Hexen1012

Hi There, I will be in Switzerland in April 2007 (18th-21st), and wanting to staying the Lucerne area. I had originally thought I would call Lucerne 'home', but am now wondering if Engelberg is the better city to stay in. Any thoughts?
I know its certainly closer for Mt Titlis, but further away for Zurich.
So does anyone have a preference?? Which is the better to stay for three days in?

Hi!I would suggest to stay in Lucerne.Engelberg is not a city, but its beautiful as Lucerne. However,in Lucerne you get a lot of choices and things to see and explore. And accesible to all attractions.
Happy travels!

Travel Tips for Engelberg

Engelberg...Swiss heaven

by barbskie

A popular destination here in Switzerland mostly known as "Heaven"......a summer and winter paradise. The village also radiates the special charm of the Benedictine monastery, the wonderfully fresh countryside and an impressive mountain panorama. Cable cars make off with you in all directions, while good restaurants, mountain huts and hotels invite you to relax.
Here is no limit to the number of sports on offer in Engelberg, and a varied wellness programme provides the relaxation after the adrenalin kick. Submerge in Engelberg - either indoors or out - and soak up new energy.

Relaxed and natural with lush green meadows, white snow, grey rocks, red peaks and steel-blue mountain lakes. 360 kilometres of hiking paths and lots of breezy overhead railways – ranging from simple drags to the Rotair cableway – all tempting you to explore the valley again and again. A whole range of activities from abseiling to wood-carving promise an exciting holiday experience. All of these are in Engelberg to enjoy!

Grab hold of the blue sky and enjoy white holidays: swirling powder snow, 24 different cableways, 82 kilometres of ski-slopes, winter hiking paths and cross-country tracks through forests in deep snow.
