Chalet Martin
Gryon is a little village high in the alps, we stayed at a great great chalet here. We simply just walked round the moutains staring over the alps but you can also ski, skydive and all that stuff... lovely place.
When we were researching this trip we saw some adverts for a chalet up in the Alps.. so we thought we'd give it a go. To get to Gryon it takes 4 hours and the last part (included in the train ticket) you go on a tram up the side of the mountains... great fun... you can look over the side as you go higher and higher. We envisaged an old wooden chaled, surrounded by snow, a log fire, drinking coco in comfy chairs.. and we were almost right. All i can say about this chaled it that it was the best hostel we and I have ever stayed at... its great. Its like another home. Its run by young(ish) people, you have to take your shoes off as you enter, and .. well.. its just great. when we arrived the guests told us they found it hard to leave.. and believe me they really werent kidding. Its situated in a little village with one shop and one pub (the shop sells 1L beers for 2CF but closes at 5pm) We only spent a night here but during the day we walked up the mountains and just sat looking over the alps.. it really was simply beautiful. I know that Gryon is a little out the way of the main routes people take but believe me if you get the chance its worth a few days. Especially if your into skydiving, skiing and such like.. cuase you can do it all from here. It was here that we met Warwick (aussi guy), Jackie (aussi chick) and 3 arkansaw girlies.. who simply have the greatest accent.
