HOTEL ANTICO: A chamring hotel in a unique village

My wife and I stayed one nightin July 2009 in this ** albergo which would merit another * ! The hotel is just above the route cantonale at the edge of the romantic village of Inragna. The village is typical for the area, old stone houses, many still with stone coverd roofs. Two remarkable churches, one features the highest church tower of the Canton Tessin. Many tourists, but not a tourist destination, almost no shops and none aimed to empty your purse. The hotel has a large pergola-terrace (for 60) where one takes all meals. From the stone covered tables at the edge one has a splendid view. Inside there are two addidional dining rooms, one with a fireplace (40 + 40 seats). Buffet breakfast is good, but not overhelming, meals are tasty. Service mutlilingual. We had dinner consisting of aperitif, salad, a ravioli speciality, desert, wine, spa water, coffee for CHF 108.- for the two. All of it recommended rigfhtfully by the very friendly waiter, well served, although the terrasse was fully occupied. We had room # 6, large with two beds and shower, balcony towards south and two other windows on the court. AC, heating, minifridge, all very clean and nicely furnished. Price CHF 170.-for the two of us.

Unique Quality: In the room rate were inlcuded breakfast, free parking in the hotel's underground garage and free use of the pool and sauna in the garden of of house opposite, belonging to the hotel. Childern welcome, but appart from garden and pool no special offer. Ideal for hiking excursions, or short trips by postal bus or train up the valley or down to Ascona, Locarno, Lugano, Morcote, the three lakes, or close by Italian pearls .... The hotel provides free parking after checking in in its underground garage. The village of Intragna is typical for the area, pedestrians only, as the little alleys and steep stairs between the old stone houses - many of them the still coverd with stone roofs - do not permit cars. VERY AGREABLE, COMFORTABLE HOTEL. We regreted having to leave after one night.
