Internet Cafe with Printer
I'm planning a trip to Basel and Lucerne in May but because I need to check in for my return flight on the internet I need access to an internet cafe with a printer. Does any one know the location of an internet cafe with printer in Basel.
Re: Internet Cafe with Printer
Many possibilities. No. one is the public library (Universitätsbibliothek Basel; near Petersplatz and the University), on the first floor; in the first room with computers you'll have 5 or 6 computers where you don't have to pay for surfing and I think you can even print. [Another 6 computers in that room are only open if you're a student of the University - ask at the information desk].
Besides: Thalia Bücher in Freie Strasse; on the 1,5st floor, where they sell travel guides; don't know if you can print but at least surf.

Am Marktplatz in Basel (see your plan)
Definately one of the most...
Definately one of the most beautiful parts of Basel is the old town. Situated around Barfüsserplatz and Marktplatz most of its houses are not younger than 650 years. Small alleys, peaceful little shops and old tiny cafés create an unforgetable atmosphere, in a way that you can't believe that you're actually in the middle of a quite lively town!
Cross the river by boat
You can use a boat without any angine except the waves.
Just ring the BELL , the boat will come to you !
Cost = 1.20 CHF

Museum for Paper, Writing and Printing
This museum found its home in the former Basel paper mill from the 15th century, in the charming St. Alban quarter.
This museum is "interactive" - that means you can check out yourself the process of paper making like in old times. Absolutely fascinating. Displayed is also the development of printing and bookbinding. You can even see the original late Gothic living room of the Gallican family. In the shop you can buy excellent papers, but it is quite expensive.

Traffic signs and bicycle lanes
1. Large signs clearly showing the position of the bicycle lanes (click to enlarge)
2. Bicycle lane between automobile lanes, not to the right of right-turning cars
3. Signs for cyclists and pedestrians at the main station Basel SBB
4. Sign for pedestrians in the Elisabethenstrasse
Switzerland in general and Basel in particular have made a lot of progress in recent years in putting up informative traffic signs for cyclists and pedestrians, not only cars.
Even on the large signs above the street, as on the first photo, there are signs clearly showing where the bicycle lanes are, so nobody will be in any doubt.
In the second photo the bicycle lane has been placed between two automobile lanes, to avoid the problem of right-turning cars or trucks running colliding with cyclists who are going straight ahead. This I think is often a better solution than having cycling lanes on the far right, no matter what, as is often the case in other cities.
