    I remained at Hotel Europe for at least three months while working in Basel in 1998-1999. The staff at Hotel Europe were very helpful and curteous. The rooms were always impeccably clean and resonably priced. If you like a quiet night, ask for a room facing the courtyard. Security on Clarastrasse was no worry. The hotel is located on the opposite side of the river from the Rathaus and within easy walking distance (about an 10-15 minute walk).

    During Karnival, my room was on the 3rd floor on the Clarastrasse side of the hotel. It was noisy but no problem, it was fun watching the parades and festivities in the street below any time during the night or day. I remained in the hotel over Christmas and attended the Christmas Celebration.

    This hotel is popular with convention goers as the hall is just one or two blocks down the street.

    I will stay at Hotel Europe next time I have to pass through Basel. Excellent restaurants also. Check out my comments about Restaurant Bajazzo.
