The People of Bern
by brily
The vast majority of people in Bern are tourist-friendly and only too willing to help. Be polite, and speak slowly and clearly in your language if necessary (normally everyone understands at least some English and French) and you will be taken good care of. Many Bernese people do appreciate - and indeed rely on - the tourist industry. Have fun!
When there is almost no time for visiting

First of all: for most information you can try this page:

One of the most beautiful place of Berne is the Rose Garden with a nice view to the roofs of the old town...
to reach it, take bus Nr. 15 direction Ostermundigen and leave it at 'Rosengarten', which will be about a 10 minutes ride.
If you are really in a hurry, but have half an hour left before your train leaves, take the elevators in the train station up to the top: sometimes it's possible to see the mountains even from the terrace upstairs the station... near the main building of the university it is said, that Bernese people don't like to hurry... and this creates an atmosphere of warmth and makes you feel comfortable...

Loeb is a local store, where you can shop all kind of things, wear, books, gifts. Window-shopping is really original there, it seems like there would be always new ideas. So just have a look, it might be funny...
It's near the main station of the railways SBB
Meeting point Nr. 1 in the city is the Loeb Corner.

There are many museums in Bern. The historical, the museum of art, Museum of communications, etc...
Of course there are many old buildings like the Münster or the goverment center. Even the building where Albert Einstein used to live is in Bern.
